It has always been my philosophy that if a person can take time out to make a complaint, they should be able to take time out to make a compliment, especially when it is well-deserved. I would like to graciously acknowledge Harlen of The Detroit Club staff, and I cannot say enough good things about him. While visiting the The Detroit Club, my wife and I had what we considered an unpleasant encounter by another member of The Detroit Club staff. In that moment, and without hesitation Harlen demonstrated above & beyond exemplary courtesy and professionalism in insuring that the remainder of our visit, would be that of the outstanding experience we had come to know The Detroit Club offered. Harlen was very knowledgeable, personable, and resourceful, while giving us an in depth detailed showing & understanding of The Detroit Club, the property and its history. By doing so, our experience at The Detroit Club instantly turned around for the best. We enjoyed ourselves very much, and look forward to returning one day soon. In today's world, where good customer service can sometimes be hard to find, Harlen in every way, rescued and renewed our faith in the ability to still receive that great customer service that we all hope to get. Hats off, and a sincere thanks to Harlen & his supervisor that night. Great save!
I wanted to like it. The place has a great atmosphere and the bartender in the Library Bar is awesome but it ends there. The guy who checked us in Saturday was great but the room had no air or heat available. Not even a fan to help cool it down as the thermostat said it was 78 degrees in there. The tv didn’t work either so they sent someone up. He said we have to leave the HVAC off and hopefully it will cool down later. He got the tv on but we could only change the channels. The volume didn’t work and we had to unplug it to turn it off. I mentioned this to the lady at the desk when we left Sunday and apparently we annoyed the hell out of her because she just rolled her eyes. The worst part was that the valet parked my new car under something that left stains all over my vehicle. I had to take a razor blade to get it off the windshield and I’m hoping to find something that can get it off the paint. Power washing helped but only a little bit. All this for over $400 a night.
Beautiful historic hotel and restaurant/bar. I was in awe walking in, I literally stopped to take it in. Fabulous vibe throughout this GEM! Best burger and fries (unique) I have ever had! Can't wait to return. Would love to stay as a hotel guest someday! The rooms look gorgeous.
Such a cool place. Fabulous food and fabulous service. The sea bass was wonderful. Go enjoy a wonderful meal and take a ride to the third floor to check out some history!! A picture of Pres. McKinley's last banquet before his death is on the mantle. Enjoy!
The room was cold all night. The heat was up high but the windows are so old had thick ice on it & room wouldn't hold heat. They gave us a heater but the room wasnt warm until the next morning before check out. The guy at the front desk was polite but he seem to have no knowledge in some things like the cost of items in the snack area of room no list etc he seemed lost. I honestly feel like for the money they should at least have better working heat. We had the premium spa king suite
Spent an evening at the Library Bar, for a special evening recently. Great space, staff employees are easy to talk with. They keep the sitting area very clean, removing empty glasses and food items too. Entertainment with a frequent guitar player was great. Many people were hanging out in that room. It has a fireplace in that room and the bar is in the next space and it has a nice bar area. The bartender makes one of the best espresso martinis, per a person who always gets a espresso martinis when out and always let's him know he's still #1 with that, "Espresso Martini" he makes. Definitely recommend stopping by and checking out this Bar. There is a restaurant on site at the Detroit Club, and there are 21 boutique rooms in the hotel. There are areas that are for members only, but you'll enjoy an evening stopping by for the restaurant and bar.
Just an amazing experience! I'd never been here even though I've lived in Detroit my whole life and I've worked downtown. Mean a couple friends headed over after Sid's and they were all done up for Christmas and the bartender was amazing and drinks were pretty good!
