Puritan Oyster Bar

Puritan Oyster Bar is attached to Puritan Oyster Co. and has a fantastic atmosphere, more relaxed vibe than it's companion restaurant, and the best, local oysters and creative/delicious cooked and raw seafood dishes. The raw food is incredibly fresh. The tuna, salmon, yellowtail carpaccio is probably the best I have ever had. And the clam chowder is one-of-a-kind. Visited for the first time for an anniversary dinner, and Kyle, one of the two managers, knew who we were and said "Happy Anniversary" before we even announced ourselves. Kyle turns out to be one of the kindest and most genuine people. And very talented. Truly a pleasure to speak with. This is a top-10 spot in Cambridge, without a doubt. And perhaps the best for fresh shellfish.

Our experiences with Puritan Oyster Bar have been fantastic —great food, excellent service, and superb cocktails — each time we've been. The tapas-style plates are perfect for sharing, and everything we tried was fresh and flavorful. The 1 Fish 2 Fish cocktail was a standout. Our waiter/bartender Kyle was incredibly accommodating, especially for one person in our group who has a gluten intolerance (Celiac's disease)— he made thoughtful recommendations and ensured everything was prepared safely, and the gluten-free fried clams occasionally on offer are fantastic. If you can’t get a reservation at Puritan & Company, come here instead. Same high-level cuisine, easier to get into, and honestly we’d choose the place every time. Highly recommend!

Best meal i had in boston over 7 days and we spared no expense. Half price oysters, amazing drinks by our bartender Christine, nice setting, and our last night before heading north to the mountains. Perfect way to leave town. Highly recommended!!

Such a delightful find in Cambridge. Super fresh oysters served with variety of condiments. The crab rangoon dip is to die for, as well as the yellowfin tacos and cod cheek sliders. I got the Oceanic 815 cocktail - so good!

Visited the Oyster Bar on an extremely cold Friday night so it was not particularly busy. The cocktail/mocktail list is creative and unique. We sat at a high top and split oysters and shrimp cocktail. The green chili sauce that is served with the oysters is a must try. They had two specials that night, a chicken thigh and a short rib dish. We ordered both. They were presently beautifully and tasted delish. We will definitely be returning to try out more of the small plates menu.

Kyle, our server, was fantastic. We came in for oysters and ended up staying for tapas, drinks, and dessert because everything was just that good. The ceviche and the Black Forest cake were absolute standouts. You can tell everything is made in-house, the flavors are fresh, thoughtful, and beautifully balanced. The atmosphere was relaxed, and the staff was consistently attentive without ever feeling intrusive. A wonderful experience all a low-key Saturday date night.

Great oyster selection! Their half off before 6pm everyday. I dream about their cucumber mignonette. Highly recommend the dressed oysters! Sat at the bar and had wonderful service, recommendations, and cocktails from bartender Kyle. Will return again & again!
