The facility features an indoor track, group fitness programs, and an attached pool and saunas. University Recreation and Wellness Center has a rating of 4.5 out of 5 based on over 278 reviews on Google
Incredible gym, lots of machines, running track, programs for group fitness and so on. Attached pool and saunas. Would be 5 stars if they maintained the machines throughout the year, but as of January only about 85 percent of machines are functional.
Ive never seen such a big gym that looks so modern have such terrible equipment. They manage to have a place to buy a shake but can’t have 60 pound dumbbells or a calf raise machine. Update the gym or don’t include the gym as a part of the tuition you charge students. Pathetic.
4 Levels of space and equipment. You can walk/run on the indoor track on level 3. New construction with an indoor connection to the older University Gym and swimming complex.
I accidentally left my own barbell pad at this gym and realized as soon as I got home 15 minutes later. I called as soon as I got home to ask if they could look for it. They told me that they would not look for it and I would have to wait until they received it in the lost and found. Really? I am forced to pay for the gym every semester and they can’t do the bare minimum to protect students’ items? No other gym would act like this except for a gym that people are forced to pay for. I got them to agree to look for it after complaining. They told me to call back shortly and, when I did, they said that it wasn’t there. I also find that hard to believe that a barbell pad would be stolen within 15 minutes which is something they also said was unlikely. I don’t think they want to put in any effort.
Lots of machines and free weights, can be crowded at times but usually as you move away from the front entrance, it gets a lot quieter. Definitely recommended not going at peak times if you want to use the kilter board.
Keep slapping "out of order" signs on broken machines, then taking them off a day later without fixing a god damn thing. Getting infuriating for what we pay
I trained at the karate club here for a few years. It had been around since 1967, with no issues and no complaints in that time. Regional tournaments with hundreds of people had been held by that club over the decades. Under new RecWell mangers the club, as well as other clubs have been booted out and banned for dubious reasons. The gym and equipment is nice, and the student staffers are good at their jobs, but management needs to go.
