Customer Reviews
The Barn Steakhouse has a rating of 4.6 out of 5 based on over 539 reviews on Google
The Barn is really beautiful inside. The entire staff was very helpful and friendly. Their version of an old fashioned was the right amount of sweet/stiff and I had the bartender make me a mocktail of her choice which was also great - lime and cucumber. The Burrata appetizer is a must try, I was so excited about it, didn’t get a picture. We did the ribeye medium and it melts in your mouth. The potatoes with it are so flavorful. The lobster risotto was pretty good, but the texture of the risotto was a bit crunchier than I like and a little bland. The carrot cake was amazing paired with a chai latte
Small quaint steakhouse inside a rustic "barnish" setting. Very nice ambiance. Delicious food. Great desserts. The dry aged ribeye was outstanding, cooked to perfection (rare for me). Dry aged NY strip with tarragon horseradish topper was also very good. All steaks come with a potato, which is nice for a steakhouse of this caliber, as most serve their steaks a la carte. The chocolate cake and creme brulee were also delicious. The creme brulee was very vanilla forward, where you could see the ground up vanilla beans in the custard, making in very tasty. Made a reservation on Opentable for our anniversary, and checked the anniversary box under special occasions. The waitress finished our meal with a glass of wine each on the house for the occasion, so its a nice touch they acknowledged the anniversary made on Opentable as I feel many restaurants glance over that box. Will definitely be back!
This is a gem of a restaurant!! Had the filet mignon and it was cooked perfectly, tender and delicious, one of the best steaks I’ve ever had!! Also had drinks and dessert and all were absolute perfection!! Service was impeccable! Atmosphere was relaxing and welcoming. Truly a fantastic dining experience!!
Entering The Barn for the very first time, I got a feeling of déjà vu. The seating on the main floor of about 60 and then the seating up on the second level overlooking the main dining room, reminded me of when I was the chef of Zaven’s in Chicago. The name The Barn is appropriate, since historically it was a barn. The ambiance is soft lighting with table cloths on the center tables, but not on the wall lined tables. I’m not quite sure why this was the case, unless they ran out of table cloths? Most of the staff appears to be young college aged women, which I’m sure most will enjoy, but I look for excellent service when patronizing an expensive restaurant that has a wonderful menu, pricy, but very nice. Our waitress came to the table to tell us about the menu and if we wished for drinks. I mentioned to her that my hearing is much slower that her speech. She did not slow down ,therefore we missed most of what she said through her slight accent. She appeared to be very nervous and never read the table throughout the evening our table conferred the same thoughts. Beside the above issue, I found the food itself to be excellent, with layers of flavor and texture on all the dishes served. My compliments to the head chef. I ordered the Prix Fixe Dinner of the "Manhattan Cut" that comes with a very tasty salad and a dessert of "Pecan Streusel Carrot Cake." I didn’t understand a "Manhattan cut," so I asked our waitress. She really didn’t know what cut it really was. The steak was cooked as ordered and was tender as very tasty, covered with a light glasse sauce. The German butterball potatoes were delicious as well. My wife’s salmon was as good as it gets as well. My in-laws are vegetarians so they ordered the Mack and cheese, Brussels sprouts and the "selection of Artisanal Cheeses." Now this is very misleading and not described appropriately at all. The waitress didn’t do justice to explain it either. What came out was a lovely wood plank with two little pieces of cheese and the rest of the board was filled with a couple of slices of a nice looking bread, a couple pieces of dried apricots, on little piece of a honey comb, a few nuts etc. Where was the cheese? If you read the menu (unclear) apparently you only get one type of cheese, not a selection. If you want a selection, each different type of cheese is a "selection." So if you would like three different types of cheese on your plank then you will pay 3 times the cost, about $33.00 for three little pieces of cheese. Again the waitress was difficult to understand because she spoke so fast, we couldn’t understand what she was saying. I absolutely loved the dessert that came with the dinner. Our dinner was a celebration of two birthdays, one 91 years old and mine of 77 years. We will return for their wonderful food, with exception, and hope the service improves. Wow! Craving a steak, and so glad we came across this place! We ordered the raw oysters as an appetizer, and they were great (do wish they had crackers and cocktail sauce though!) we both had a drink-which were heavy pour. My husband got the filet and it melted in your mouth. I got the Manhattan cut, which I had never had, and it as very good! The potatoes as a side were very unique, but very tasty. Both our favorites though was the Brussel sprouts!!! Oh my!!! They were so good! Would definitely return for a nice dinner.
The Barn has a warm and inviting interior. Our party of four were promptly seated. Manhattan was good. My filet was perfectly cooked, my companion’s steak came out raw and was sent back. Crabcake was exo as was the Caesar salad. Grilled Asparagus and Brussels Sprouts wonderful. Nice and pleasant server. The chattering noise was overwhelming, ricocheting off the brick walls. Very difficult to hear the server and to converse. Management should consider hanging baffles from the ceiling. I’d have given 5 stars but for the noise and the undercooked meat.
Business dinner booked based on proximity but very glad we did. Had zero expectations other than a glance at the menu but this was a perfect choice. Seated on the loft felt semi-private yet open. The room is such a quiet buzz if that makes any sense... the low lighting and details work well for the history and cuisine. Everything we ordered was consumed fully, including the tomahawk steaks cooked to the right temperature and shining a light on their dry aged care. Cocktails were creative and the wine by the glass list wide-ranging. I was expecting us to be in and out in an hour, but we got comfortable and hung out for over two.
