We stayed in Bakersfield after visiting Sequoia National Park. Arrived at hotel quite late at night but thankfully the check in was fast. The bed and pillows are comfortable. We stayed on level 2 and there was a guest laundry room which has 2 washers and 2 dryers (we used only the dryer which cost USD1.50 and ran for 45 minutes each cycle) but our clothes (only a few pieces) were still feeling half dry even with the high heat cycle, but that’s not bad as they dried overnight inside the room. It’s good that we are able to control the room temperature and fan speed. Free parking is also a good thing for the hotel guest. The next day we checked out to head for Las Vegas.

I have never met a more caring hotel staff at any hotel I’ve ever stayed. My wallet fell out of my back pocket and I didn’t discover it until after I had gotten to my room. I called the front desk and she advised that it had not been turned in but let me know that she would check the area and call me back. She promptly called me back but wasn’t able to locate it. Most of the time these situations end right there but not with her. She checked video and with the housekeeping staff to see if she could help me figure this out (something that is clearly my fault). She even offered to check the hallway of the floor I was on to see if she could find it. With all the investigative work she did, I was able to retrace my steps and realize my backpack was the culprit and I located my wallet. It was definitely a stressful situation but it was so nice to find that there are still people around who treated my problem as their own, who really care, and go out of their way to help. Well done Marriott Bakersfield! As far as the hotel, great location, great staff, both lobby and room was modern and super clean. This stay made me a Marriott customer for life and this is the only place I’ll stay when back in Bakersfield!

I've stayed here twice now, and my experience is this is a good, solid property. Everyone I encountered was friendly and inviting; as usual with Marriott, the staff are the stars here! The hotel is getting up there in age, and while you can tell the rooms have been renovated, they still show some wear. Not bad by any means, and they are clean, comfortable, and modern. I like how they use built-in heating/air instead of the noisy under-window units. My recent stay was on the top floor and included the M Club lounge, which was really very nice! In the evening they served some salads, charcuterie, and flatbreads, and morning had a good hot breakfast bar. The attendants (as usual) were very nice and welcoming! My first stay here I used the bar and coffee shop, too, great experiences as well. Location is okay, many bars and restaurants are walkable, but Bakersfield is sprawling so it depends on what you're here for. The open parking in the back does feel slightly sketchy, and the crooked entrance sign doesn't help the vibe haha, but parking is plentiful and free and I never had a problem!

I want to give a big thank you to Evangelina at the Bakersfield Marriott. I walked in with a heavy dilemma, and she immediately stepped in with calm, collected professionalism. She was cool under pressure, went straight to the general manager, and handled the situation quickly and effectively. Evangelina truly went above and beyond to make sure I got exactly what I needed. Exceptional service and genuine care — she turned a stressful moment into a great experience!

For a decent safe hotel with friendly staff and services in downtown Bakersfield, the Bakersfield Marriott at the Convention Center meets your needs. I was very happy with my stay. Many government buildings are a short walk away including the Kern County Superior Court. The hotel has a spacious lounge area that also serves as a coffee and the like in the morning. There was not an extra charge for parking in an outdoors lot behind the hotel. The staff members I interacted with, including Evangelina at the front desk, were helpful and made appropriate suggestions. While the hotel is situated in the heart of downtown Bakersfield, and is next to the convention center, the area seems abandoned at night with no restaurants or coffee houses within walking distance, meaning that the restaurant at the hotel is the only option. Overall, an ideal hotel if one wants to wake up in downtown Bakersfield for a business meeting or for an event at the convention center.

Classic Marriott. Great beds, linens, pillows, towels. Nice sized rooms. Fabulous staff. Nice bar and restaurant on premise. Good sized pool. But it’s getting tired. The rooms have worn carpet, broken counters in the bathrooms, old tub/shower combos. It’s time for a renovation.

It's been a while since I last stayed at a Marriott in the US. On this trip so far, I've stayed at 4 Marriott Properties. The service has been good/great at all locations and the rooms have been nice and spacious. Took away a star due to an issue within the Marriott chain in general. The coffee/tea making facilities in the room are rather lacking. Many hotels of Marriott's stature in the other parts of the world provide a expresso machine/capsules (eg Nespresso). The machines at Marriot seem rather flimsy and low quality in comparison. At least 2 of the 4 properties had faulty machines, I didn't use the machines at the other 2 properties. One couldn turn on, while another leaked causing a mess. Also found it strange that paper cups with plastic lids were provided, adding to the cheap vibe. Wouldn't ceramic cups that could be washed and reused been more sustainable? The coffee itself was also rather poor. Most hotels usually provide a kettle in addition to the coffee machine to cater for tea drinkers. In fact, a kettle and packet coffee/tea might be preferable to having the current coffee machines.
