We stayed at the Homewood Suites by Hilton Amarillo while traveling home to Missouri. Our daughter is currently serving in the Middle East, and we needed to return home to take care of some business. Overall, we were very pleased with our stay. While there are a few areas that could use updating, it is a very good value for the price. Jamie at the front desk was outstanding. She even called our room to make sure everything was okay. When we stopped by to purchase snacks, she was friendly, attentive, and very knowledgeable. Her service was truly five-star. I would rate the service five stars and the facility four stars — with a few improvements, it would easily be a five as well.
Stayed at Homewood Suites in Amarillo and had a great experience overall. The real highlight of the morning was Anita at breakfast. She was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and just the kind of person who makes you feel like you picked the right hotel before you’ve even had your coffee. Honestly, she could teach a masterclass in hospitality. The room was clean, comfortable, and exactly what you want after a long day of travel. The only challenge I faced was trying to locate the remote for the ceiling fan. I searched like I was on a low-budget episode of National Treasure. No luck. The fan won this round. That tiny mystery aside, everything else was excellent. Great staff, great stay, and Anita alone is worth the visit. I’d absolutely stay here again… hopefully with a fan remote cameo next time.
Where should I begin writing about our horrible one night stay?|Could it be the door to our room was propped OPEN with the safety latch when we arrived?|Could it be having only ONE bath towel & no wash cloth? Could it be the toilet paper roll was nearly empty? |Could it be NO tv service?|Or could it be the wad of black hair in the shower drain??|A telephone call from the front desk, after I was in bed, wanting to know what credit card to put the small bag of M&M's on. Which I purchased when I went down for more towels. The candy wasn't edible because it was old & stale!!|This is totally unexpected conditions at a hotel owned by HILTON.
Positive: Room size and amenities were great. Had a small kitchen area that worked out very well. Bed was comfortable, good size TV and several tables and a desk to work on. Hotel location was right off the I-40, very convenient. Negative: There were a number of good eating establishments close.
I stayed here during a cross-country move, and when I booked 4 days earlier, I accidentally selected the wrong day. Immediately realizing my mistake, I canceled and re-booked for the correct day, the minute after the original booking, so that it would open the room and not affect the hotel in any way. Not realizing I was out of their 5-day cancelation policy, I stayed at the hotel as planned, only to realize they had double-charged me for the original booking. After calling to explain the simple mistake to the front desk, they have shown no grace and will not refund my mistake booking, even though I stayed with them at no loss to the hotel. On top of all this, there was a nail sticking out of the floor that caught my foot as I entered the bathroom, which led me to wear shoes in my room. I communicated it to the front desk on my way out. The location is good, but as you can imagine, I do not plan to stay here again. (Edit - 2/24/26) - The owner rewarded me with another welcome bonus to my awards status, which is less than the points awarded for the stay. If they ever contact me personally and refund my card, I will update this to a higher rating.
A great place to stay long-term. It is convenient to most of things. Rooms are very nice and comfortable. The only issue I have is the constant sound of room doors slamming closed. It constantly wakes me up. Management should have maintenance adjust the door closers to a soft close.
We stayed several nights while moving a daughter to the area. The front desk was very nice. However, everything is so worn and old, it just felt dirty. One bed did not have a top sheet. Some of the towels were threadbare and worn. The sheets felt old. The return for the furnace had a thick gray layer of dust. The curtains felt gray and dusty. One couldn't help but itch just being in the room. It was also hit or miss on whether or not there would be coffee and if it would be warm.
