The Dewberry Spa
📍 Gay-friendly spas in Charleston
The Dewberry Spa in Charleston offers a refined retreat with a focus on luxurious relaxation and personalized care. The elegantly designed treatment rooms and meticulously curated ambiance create an atmosphere of tranquility, where skilled therapists deliver tailored massages and facials. Notable for its attention to detail, the spa emphasizes a serene experience, from the thoughtful gestures—like warming robes—to the signature tea blend, which enhances the overall sense of calm.
While the spa excels in high-end service quality, pricing reflects its premium positioning, which may not align with expectations for extended amenities like saunas or steam rooms. Some guests have noted inconsistencies in post-treatment access to relaxation spaces, particularly during peak hours, though the expertise of therapists and the spa’s aesthetic often leave a lasting impression. Ideal for those seeking a polished, intimate escape.

Customer Reviews
The Dewberry Spa has a rating of 4.6 out of 5 based on over 68 reviews on Google
I was absolutely blown away by my experience at The Dewberry Spa. Hands down the best massage and spa experience I have ever had (I personally think It was better than The Ritz Carlton spa). The ambiance from the moment you arrive is stellar and every staff member is incredible as well. The massage was the best one I have ever received. The massage treatment rooms were beautiful and serene. My therapist even warmed my robe after my service was over! Their relaxation room was the most peaceful room too! I will absolutely be returning here!
My massage therapist, Lexi, was professional and knowledgeable. She applied firmer pressure according to my muscle response during my 100 minute signature session. I was jelly afterward. While the service was great, it was overpriced. I paid $420 for the massage and gratuity. I have paid comparably for multiple services (massage and facial) at high end spas.
Really beautiful relaxation room and spa. Their signature tea blend is awesome! Giving only 3 stars because I got the scalp and sole ritual treatment several days ago and whatever hair oil was used during the treatment will not come out of my hair at all whatsoever. I've washed it three times with no luck and I have naturally very thick and dry hair. I can't imagine what this treatment would do to someone with thinner/more fine hair.
This experience felt very overpriced, and the receptionist seemed to rush us out. Our appointment was at 5, but we were only given a few minutes in the relaxation room beforehand. We were told we’d be able to use it afterward, but when our service ended, it appeared the receptionist had already closed the room for the day—nearly an hour before closing time. This was especially disappointing since it was for my birthday, and overall we did not feel welcomed.
My service provider / my massage were great… but on my way out of my appointment, I thought I’d take a steam or sit in the sauna. Only then did I learn that the Dewberry Spa provides those amenities to male clients but not females (as the facilities are only in the men’s locker room). What a HUGE turnoff. The disparate treatment isn’t terribly surprising given that it’s Charleston, but if your amenity offerings aren’t going to be the same between genders despite charging everyone the same (high) prices, at least give female patrons some sort of discount.
We booked this spa for a birthday experience and we were really looking forward to it based on the reviews. I was really disappointed in the experience. The massage was definitely mediocre, the therapist I had was very very nice and sweet but had smokers breath which was hard to stomach. The relaxation room was tiny and the amenities were minimal at best- a too sweet granola bar and tea. I had to ask for a cup of coffee, which when I received it was lukewarm. We were never offered anything else( even the birthday girl was not acknowledged for her birthday) and when another customer was offered a mimosa I asked for one. I was in the relaxation room waiting 45 minutes for my daughter and I never received the mimosa. The price for 2 massages and a facial was outrageous ($800.00– 1 90 min, 1 60 min massage) for the service we received. The 20% trip was automatically included, which skyrocketed the amount. I hate that this experience was such a disappointment because it was the one thing we were counting on for her birthday. Everything else we participated in in Charleston has been superb.
My first experience at the Dewberry hotel came as a birthday gift last year for a massage. I decided to follow up last week and got a facial for my birthday and the service was nothing far short of amazing. The person who assisted me with my facial name was Kaela. She was very professional and very knowledgeable about skin care. She definitely gave my face that glow that I inquired about. I’m definitely going back in the upcoming months as recommended by Kaela. The Dewberry Spa in Charleston SC has definitely earned my five star rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
