A quaint eclectic boutique hotel. We had an apartment which had a queen sized bed. The living room had a hideaway sofa. I wound up sleeping on the sofa because we are used to a king bed but regardless both were very comfortable. Each room had ceiling fans and the bedroom has a window unit. It’s an older property but I was pleasantly surprised. Hubby said the coffee was excellent.

Nice quaint hotel at an excellent price. The staff member at the front desk was friendly. The room was clean and cute. The AC in the room blows super cold, there was also a fan. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, I slept like a baby. The shower is a single person shower and takes a few minutes to heat up, but was no issue for us. The parking is sketchy but it’s downtown so you typically have homeless people walking around in most downtown areas. Forewarning - this is a very small room, which I would gladly sacrifice again for the price and cleanliness, and it was super cute. It met our needs and the price couldn’t be beat! Ive already scheduled another visit next month. I’ve read some of the other reviews - yes there are stairs, the stairs are in no way narrow, they are a good size, there’s only 2 flights of stairs which posed no problem for us. If you can’t climb 2 flights of stairs without complaining you have bigger issues that you need to address!

I came for a conference and wanted to stay in a place that was unique as well as comfortable, and Hotel Royal did not disappoint! The room was quiet, very clean and cheerfully decorated, staff were friendly and welcoming, and the location made it easy to walk to my conference and also a number of restaurants for a delicious meal each evening. I could also walk to the waterfront and aquarium, and shopping was close by too. I would absolutely come back when I have the opportunity.

This was the cutest hotel! I was warmly greeted at the lobby and got the door codes, which was so much better than having to remember a card. The room was very cozy and made great use of the limited space. The bed and pillows were comfy and the room was quiet. Everything was within walking distance. I will definitely stay here again!

I came to Long Beach for a meeting and stayed for a week. The room is small, but it has all the necessary appliances and supplies. The bathroom is also small, but sufficient. Overall, the space is compact yet complete. They also have a public kitchen that is kept clean. The staff members are friendly and willing to help. However, they don’t provide laundry service, but fortunately there is a good laundromat nearby. Considering the price, the environment and service are quite good.

⭐ 1 star I have rarely been this disappointed with a hotel. We stayed here twice within two weeks, and both experiences were a complete disaster. The rooms are ridiculously small, uncomfortable, and look nothing like the photos on the website. During our first night, several rooms were partying and there was absolutely no staff at the lobby to handle the situation. The result: a terrible night. After that awful experience, we asked to cancel our second night or at least be moved to a decent room. Their answer? Over $200 in extra fees per room. Completely unacceptable. For our second stay, I tried again to cancel after explaining everything — once again, denied. Then we received a message saying that the lobby closes at 7 PM, which also means all common areas become inaccessible. We were four people, and since the rooms are so tiny you can’t even sit comfortably with two people, we ended up sitting on the floor with our coffee because there was literally nowhere else to go. Absurd and embarrassing. I have never seen a hotel offer so little service, so little space, and so little respect for its guests. I already know they will reply with the classic "sorry for the inconvenience," but that doesn’t fix anything. Avoid this place at all costs.

My partner and I stayed for 2 nights before a cruise and had a lovely time. The room was quaint, cute and very clean. The staff were really sweet and we were within walking distance of a lot of stuff. We visited Thai District across the street, the Village Market (a cute little corner store) less than half a block up, had brunch at the Breakfast Bar which was only about a 5 minute walk away and had Mexican delivered from El Sauz Cocina Mexicana. We also took a little 15 minute walk up the street to the Billie Jean King Library to take a look. The neighborhood itself was definitely a gayborhood. Very friendly and chill.
