Crystal Lake Brooklyn

📍 Leather bars in Brooklyn

7.0

Crystal Lake Brooklyn stands out as a stylish leather-themed bar in Brooklyn, blending retro charm with a modern twist. The cozy nooks and eclectic decor create an inviting atmosphere, perfect for groups or intimate gatherings, while the back room often hosts engaging entertainment like live comedy or sports. Known for its craft cocktails, including bold flavors like the spicy-sour "Heart of Darkness," the drink menu offers a mix of creativity and affordability.

Service can vary, with some staff delivering warm, attentive hospitality, while others may appear less engaged—best to visit during busier hours for smoother interactions. While the happy hour deals (when available) are a highlight, food options lean heavily toward meat-centric choices, which may limit vegetarian selections. The $20 cover charge adds a touch of exclusivity, making it ideal for special outings rather than casual stops.

I LOVE the decor here it's amazing. Excellent happy hour, great staff, great music, and fun movies on the tv. My only complaint is that as a vegetarian there's nothing I can eat - the fries are made in the same fryer as meat so I can't eat any of the food. BUT if you do eat meat, it looks delicious!

They don't honor happy hour on Wednesdays -- you can see others have left this reveiw. Please be aware, even if they have signage up and you ask about the happy hour specials, they might not have it. Very misleading and bar staff was rude and defensive when it was pointed out that they really shouldn't have a sign up noting the happy hour if they aren't going to honor it. Definitely won't be returning.

Huge back room space for hosting groups needing to watch a big screen. Kind workers too! Just a heads up it’s $20 card minimum

I came here on a Monday evening to support a friend in a comedy night. The place stretched to the back to a larger opening where the show was located. Each comedian had a 5-minute set, and it was enjoyable. I would remark that the bartender was not thrilled to be working—don’t know if was a comedic bit or not. Either way, for the few amounts of people present, this individual’s service was unapproachable and slow. Also, food was a bit overpriced for my liking, so I didn’t buy. Nevertheless, the vibe of the location was chill and tranquil. I would recommend a visit if you have loads of time to wait.

Local chill bar with some truly delicious bar food. Pictured here: Chop Burger without a bun and Animal Fries (both gluten free)!

Such a cool space. Comfortable with little nooks you can sit in with a date or group of friends. Great cocktails at a reasonable price, considering time and ingredients. Great art and design throughout. Plus the back room usually has some whimsical entertainment.

Great neighborhood bar. Delicious drinks. I had heart of darkness cocktail, loved it. If you like sour and spicy this is it. Old fashioned was little too sweet. Anyway, great place!
