⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Port of San Diego Cruise Terminal As a Local Guide, I can say the Port of San Diego Cruise Terminal is one of the best cruise embarkation points on the West Coast. It’s clean, efficient, and beautifully located along the waterfront. Within walking distance you’ll find the historic Star of India, the impressive USS Midway Museum, and plenty of shops, cafés, and restaurants with great bay views. If you have time before or after your cruise, don’t miss the world-famous San Diego Zoo or Old Town San Diego for history, authentic Mexican food, and local charm. The port staff are friendly and organized, and the entire area feels safe and welcoming. Highly recommend cruising from San Diego — you can easily turn embarkation day into a mini vacation!
This cruise port has huge potential, but being in California, it may take ages to get built, and then they will cut corners and end up with a haffway job. There is no real infrastructure at the pier, just a big shed. Passport control was done on our ship. The airport is just down the road, but no train service. Vans and buses have very limited space. Cars, Ubers, taxis crowd around outside the gate. The line of passengers wanting to board goes way outside the building- good thing it doesn’t rain much here!
I've been on a cruise ship tied up here a couple of times now. Getting in and out of the port is fairly straightforward with the usual customs lineup, declarations and so on. The view of the nearby Midway and Maritime Museum is always fun, as is the ability to look across the bay at the Naval Base and the one or two Air Craft Carriers that are always there. Its a nice port area.
Easy cruise terminal to use. Located downtown San Diego. Easy walking to famous ships.
Excellent location of port being close to the Airport and downtown.
This Port was the start and finish location of a Holland America cruise this week to western Mexico cities. It is clean, organized and easy to navigate through. I would definitely recommend traveling through on another cruise! The views of San Diego from the water during embarkation and disembarkation were lovely.
Of the 4 cruise terminals I've gone through, this was probably one of the most streamlined and smoothest processes to board a boat that I've gone through. Virtually no lines or waiting. Showed up at the terminal and was aboard the ship in about 15, maybe 20 minutes. All the staff were very professional & courteous. Well done Port of San Diego.
