Absolutely loved our time at Runaway Whiskey & Wine! From the moment you walk in, the design and decor set the tone—moody, intentional, and effortlessly luxe. Even the hallway to the bathrooms felt elevated and thoughtfully designed. The entire space gives a true speakeasy vibe. Pair that with delicious drinks and great friends, and it made for an unforgettable night. This spot is a must!

Excellent cocktails. Nice sunset view. We are here for a Bartenders Guild competition. Our bartenders Patrick and Malachi made awesome cocktails.

My girlfriends and I had an exceptional experience at Runway this past weekend. Firstly be aware that the entrance to this establishment is at the rear of the building. The signage was a bit confusing but once found it make sense.the inside was so posh and comfy. Patrick, our waiter was very nice and also provided the drinks. Everything was delicious and well thought out. I would highly recommend!

Runaway Whiskey is a true hidden gem in Charlotte that delivers on food, cocktails, and service. The custom cocktail program is exceptional, with the espresso martini flight standing out as a must try. Creative, well balanced, and clearly crafted with intention. The food is just as impressive, from the deviled eggs and tuna tartare to what is hands down the best spinach artichoke dip I have ever had. The burger with bacon jam is unforgettable, and the truffle fries are outstanding. Every dish feels thoughtful and elevated without being overdone. Jordan and Jameson provided friendly, attentive service and clearly take pride in their craft, which elevates the entire experience. Highly recommend for anyone looking for standout cocktails, incredible food, and a polished yet welcoming atmosphere.

The food, drinks and ambiance are SO good! Such a cool and unique spot in Charlotte. We loved everything we ordered. Our server was very kind, personable and knowledgeable. Service was a little slow, but it seems they are just short staffed…not enough to ruin the experience, just something to be aware of and plan for. Will definitely be back!

It's a really cool spot! It was such a nice place for drinks with friends or a date night. The inside is beautiful art deco, and the food is delicious. The deviled eggs are a must try. The drinks were strong and very tasty, with the Saint Charles being our tables favorite of the evening, it had a nice smokiness to it. The only thing we want to see is maybe a vegetarian dish and a gluten-free option as there were none. Our server, Jameson, was wonderful and attentive! Definitely recommend checking this spot out.

My friends and I attended this restaurant for a birthday dinner. Our server, Patrick, was the most disrespectful waiter I’ve ever had in my life. It became a joke at the table, because nearly every time he came by he was slamming items down on the table so aggressively then quickly running away not making sure our needs were met. It started as we arrived at the host stand and was greeted by this man with his annoyed voice. Then unfortunately, he was also the server we ended up with. When the birthday girl ordered her final drink stating "may I have a ___ whenever you have a chance" and he responds "when I have a chance" in the most condescending voice. The birthday girl indeed never got the last drink she ordered. Important note, there were only 3 other tables in the whole restaurant while we were there, so they were not busy at all. Also, all of us girls have been in the service industry at some capacity of bartender or serving, so we understand when it is actually busy. Patrick was just obviously not happy to have a job this night. Food was great, but truly the worst service I’ve ever had. We also had to eat the cake with our fingers or share a fork because he never brought us clean utensils. We left and went next door for the rest of our drinks for the night. VERY disappointing experience, especially to be celebrating a birthday.
