Rocky Butte Natural Area

Great view of Portland and mountain areas outside of Portland. Went on a hot day when there weren’t many people. It probably gets busy and would have a gorgeous sunset but I was not there for the sunset and it was still pretty. If you’ve been to Austin TX, it’s Portland’s equivalent of Mt. Bonnell. Nice enough and it’s a pretty view.

A beautiful, open space to see the city from a 360-degree perspective in every direction. The view of the mountains is truly stunning—you can see Mt. Hood, Mt. St. Helens, and more. I especially enjoyed the sunset here; the sky was a mix of orange, pink, light purple, and blue, with the snow on top of the mountains shimmering beautifully. It was absolutely breathtaking.

The views up here are absolutely beautiful!!! It’s a two second hike up a small hill and you’re here! A great places to see the mountains! You can also see Portland and Vancouver!! Definitely worth a visit and it’s extremely pretty and quiet. Only reason I gave it a 4 star is there was some druggies in the area. Even driving up here there was a lady in the road using meth. Go PORTLAND LOL

This is a beautiful and quiet area for spectacular views. We had just under an hour before we had to get to the airport (15 drive from here) and it was a great way to finish our Portland vacation.

My favorite time of the day to come to rocky butte is definitely sunset, maybe even afterwards. The view is beautiful and there is a spot that you can stop by the mannahouse school that leads you down a little viewpoint over the highway. It’s definitely a beautiful view with a solid 360-look. Only downside is parking is kinda annoying to deal with, as well as people. Other than that, this is a very solid place to go for sunset.
