Footsies

Had a blast at this East LA bar a few weekends back. Visiting my hometown from NYC, it was interesting to see how much the old East LA I grew up knowing decades ago continues to change. While the area is without a doubt becoming gentrified, Footsies felt like a good balance of new locals and old, all with the same youthful party spirit. The night I went was a cumbia music theme and the DJ played that regional music the whole night which I realized can get a bit redundant in its simplicity. The dance floor was still going off as we all vibed, drink in hand in merriment. Took a break to the spacious patio in the back but quickly realized why my smoking days are behind me. All that bad air is a little too much for me these days. All in all, great crowd and energy.

Footsies is a kitschy, velvet painting adorned dark dive bar situated in a somewhat iffy neighborhood that makes it all the more fabulous. Everything from the bar to the tables to the furniture tends to look a little worse for the wear, giving it that authentic 'if you don't like it, too bad' authenticity that I like in a dive bar. My one mini gripe is that the cabernet wine is crap, but they are not there to please pinkies-up wine drinkers. Order a hard cocktail and you'll be feeling great about being at Footsie's.

Kai is the greatest. So kind and makes a killer martini Steph brings the vibes... love her kindness and her friendly demeanor

Hip but not really my style. Extremely noisy.

Bartender was rude and short with me and my friends all night. I forgot to close out and when I went back for my card the next day the bartender gave themself a 28% tip on my tab. Will not be going back everrrrrrrr!!!!!!!

Their karaoke nights are beyond a great time!

What a cool place. Nice mood, dancefloor and smoking patio. Right next door to digital debris which is also a must see.
