Harney Oceanside & Lounge

Stopped by Harney Oceanside for some sushi near the pier, and it was a fantastic choice! The place has that lively, trendy vibe. Super walkable from downtown Oceanside spots, and the staff was welcoming and attentive right away. We ordered: Katsu Chicken — Crispy on the outside, juicy and tender inside, with that classic panko crunch and a flavorful sauce. Salmon Sashimi — Fresh, buttery slices of salmon that melted in your mouth. High-quality fish, beautifully presented.

I will always come here for sushi when I visit my family from outta state. Went on Tuesday evening: host was quick to get our table of 6 accommodated, waitress and staff in general are always so sweet....the spicy garlic edamame is ☝🏽 and the Sea Spider roll was life-alternating--straight up transcendental🤤💫 the quality of the buttery yellowtail nigiri was just 🤌🏽✨ My dad gets the chefs special/dealers choice and they make it sing every time 😇🙏🏽 The fried rice and bento box for kids is worth praise as well. Obviously I'm a big 🪭

We came in on a slow night and were seated quickly, but the lack of organization showed immediately. As soon as we sat down, servers brought another table’s order to us twice. My bento box arrived first, and then the rest of my group waited nearly 30 minutes for their sushi. One person ordered a California roll, but a table seated after us received theirs long before we did. The chicken katsu was a huge disappointment. It was fried until it was completely dry, and the sauce they served wasn’t katsu sauce at all. It tasted exactly like the salad dressing and had the same color and consistency, even though katsu sauce is supposed to be brown. The waitress said "that’s our Katsu sauce." I order katsu often, even in Japan, and this wasn’t even close. Overall, the food and timing were off, and nothing about the experience felt worth it. Don’t waste your time here.

My absolute favorite sushi place. I like coming on Sundays from 1-3 happy hour. Perfect time of the day. We always have the same waitress who is phenomenal. She suggests rolls based off some of our liking. Can't say enough. I come in from Arizona and never leave w out going harney. Excellent experience, service, and food. I would give 10 stars if I could.

The sushi we had was very good, not as heavy as many places and busting flavors. Our server was kind and helpful. The only drawback was the noisy street.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Harney Oceanside was fantastic! The sushi was amazing—especially the Flaming Lip roll, which was hands down my favorite. We also had the teriyaki bowl and the salmon bento bowl, and both were delicious and very well portioned. The service was friendly and attentive, and the prices were great for the quality of food you get. Definitely a spot we’ll be coming back to. Highly recommend! 🍣🔥

Recommend the miso soup, spicy garlic edamame, sea spider roll, and pirate roll. Menu also says they have Handrolls, but we did not venture out. Chicken katsu 6/10 and gyoza was fried 4/10. Server was great, vibes were great!
