Onyx Room

Very disappointing and felt ripped off. Paid more than a thousand dollars upfront for bottle service plus 20% mandatory tip for literally the worst service I've ever had in a club. Our server was absent the entire night and I had to actively search for the staff to ask them about our order (multiple times). They finally delivered our second bottle after an hour and half of waiting; And then never saw our server again for the rest of the night. The bottom floor was pretty much empty until midnight when they finally changed the DJ and the music got better. Maybe this was just a bad night, but I don't feel like going back. Bottle service was definitely not worth it and service was horrible.

Onyx is great for a night out especially due to the diversity in music and it having 3 different floors. The staff is also super helpful and kind. I lost my phone there thinking it was gone for good. My sister called my phone and the bar manager Andrew answered it saying it was in the lost and found. He was super kind and helpful in trying to get me my phone back. He went above and beyond to help us and stayed in contact with us even on days Onyx was closed. He let us know my phone was safe in the lost and found and was set aside for us to pick up. Andrew met up with us and allowed us to meet with him early at the lost and found to retrieve my phone. He did not have to go through the hassle of all of that but he was so incredibly kind and genuinely wanted to help me out. This goes to show how Onyx has great staff and employees that care about their customers! I got my phone back which I am so grateful for thanks to the help of Andrew! Would definitely recommend for those looking for a great place to go in downtown San Diego!

Absolutely loved the vibe at the onyx Room. Great music , stylish Crowd,and an overall electric atmosphere . Can't wait to come back

Do NOT go here! They charged my friend $15 to hold his hat in a locker beacuse he couldn't wear it inside. They charge $20 per beer. The service was terrible. Find a better club, this one has way too much improvements to make.

Club is really fun. Bottom floor is reggaeton, and the main floor is a mixture of your typical club mixes (Top 40, hip hop, edm). It’s a free entry if you go to their website and get a mobile ticket. However I think it’s free with a ticket until 10:30.( don’t quote me, double check their Instagram) other than that the club is nice with a lot of space. It gets pretty packed. I’ve been 3 times and each time I’ve always had a good time. The video I included is their main floor.

Stopped by while I was in town for a different event, according to TikTok, Onyx is the place to be…however I’d rate my experience as average. To get in, there was no line when we arrived (just around 10pm- opening) and the security must have been on a power trip, they made my group and I walk through the sidewalk and form "a line" amongst ourselves before they would even talk to us… lol. Very odd, but I didn’t let that get to me and continued on, I can say the host or the gentleman that was toward the door where you can pay was SUPER nice and accommodating! He noticed my birthday had passed a few days prior and provided me with a sash and a free shot ticket- that was a nice touch! Once we got inside, the music was Top 40 in both the upstairs and downstairs (there is a third floor but it is not open on Friday’s). Overall, it wasn’t busy so I didn’t wait for the bathroom but I could imagine that line gets crazy when it IS busy- for women there was only 3 stalls I believe in the downstairs (where my group was for most of the night). Overall, as I stated an average experience, would I go back? Not sure, perhaps not; as nothing was super alluring. (My points of comparison are other bars/clubs that we ventured to after checking out Onyx.)

Having a dress code restriction this days is ridiculous. When you have so many expensive brands making old looking close. And you guys charging for looker use is unacceptable. And this place definitely needs more ventilation it’s so Suffocated.
