Upper Tanque Verde Trailhead

Good short hike doing the loop. Falls were dry more than likely due to dry winter season. There are nudist who hang out at the upper falls. I don't mind that I just with they wouldn't have defaced the rocks to announce where they are. That's 💯 not acceptable.

Moderate desert hike along rocky terrain with some rock steps that may be a little high for folks with less joint mobility. (As someone in their 50’s who is active but has some joint pain issues I did have to go slow at some points). Also note that there are no trail markers or signage, and there are several trails. Would be easy to get lost and get disoriented quickly in the heat. I was lucky to meet a local in the parking lot who took me to dry wash and "beach" at one of the falls, otherwise I wouldn’t have known where to go, even with the info I read online e about the trails. If you know you know right? Recommended if you love the desert and its flora and fauna and rock formations, and amazing panoramic views. Only reason not 5 stars is the lack of signage and trail markers. Bring extra water and sun protection and respect the desert and its power!

If you have bad knees or hips this is not for you. I never made it to the water. There are rocks on the trail and I felt unsteady. It is not a particularly difficult trail so don't let me sway anyone. And there are no bathrooms. The desert is always pretty at sunset. There are no lights and the road does drop off so I wouldn't drive it at night. Again, don't let me sway you.

It is beautiful out there, so much to explore. Many people visit and camp out there. People pitch there tents and take their motorhomes and campers. You can take your dirt bikes, quads, and razor ATV or UTV.

Such a beautiful place to hike in the desert! The upper trail was pretty easy.
