Fee is $8 (cars). Very beautiful natural landscape to enjoy. Some shaded walking trails. The beach area was nice with some umbrellas. Bathroom was okay. Beach was a bit rocky and the water is full of plant life - seaweed or seagrass? So not a great swimming experience for me. Lots of secluded picnic areas. I definitely return because the natural landscape made it feel exotic.
Virginia Key is absolute gem that should not be missed when visiting Miami. Next time I hope I have my mtb so I can ride their trails. I did take the nature trail and saw beautiful native water birds frolicking on the mangroves. I would definitely recommend and return.
Very calm peaceful lots of wildlife I saw raccoon iguanas lots of iguanas the beach had that seaweed all over it but the other part was pretty nice. Looks like they have a nice playground. I did stop at one of the pavilions to look around and picked up 11 large screws. I don’t know if somebody threw them down on purposeor what I backed out of there and turn back around.
A hidden gem just minutes from downtown. Entry is free on foot (although it's quite a walk from the bus stop). I visited midweek and it was almost completely empty. The water was very clear and still, which was perfect for swimming. There was lots of wildlife and plenty of space for exploring.
Enjoyed the day with the children here. I like that there are no big waves. My toddler can enjoy the water as much as anyone else. The sand is flour soft. That can be a great thing. Or you may not like the feel of it under your feet. Make sure to wear some water shoes. Also some spots may have grass and rocks which hides marine animals and dips in the sand. Look for the spots that are clearer, more transparent to the bottom. That means there is no grass or very little grass. They have kayaking and paddle boards for renting. $25 for an hour, single person or $35 for a two person kayak. Parking all depends on the time of day you arrive. Sometimes it can be so packed. We are definitely going back!!!
Historic beautiful park in the key of miami dade county. You can come here to mountain bike ride through trails. You can barbecue, horse ride, paddle board, kayak, kite board and so many more activities. The park typically isn't over occupied like south beach, entrance is cheap. Slight issue maybe with the water and sewer plant next door with its slight smell if you're next to it.
First time coming to the Historic Virginia Key Beach. It has so much history here for myself and those who's only option to be at the beach was Virginia Key.
