Very nice beach on Hickam! Small but it's the perfect size if that makes sense. Not busy, tons of things to go do with rentals available for chairs or utilities, and a restaurant adjacent. Sand is soft. There's a lifeguard as needed. Away from the main part of the base so it feels secluded and peaceful.
Nice beach away from the crowds at all the public beaches on the south shore! Perfect for kids because there's no waves, it's shallow, and there's lifeguards on duty. There's cabanas to rent along with SUP boards and kayaks for $10/hr or $20 for the day. There's also restrooms, an awesome beach bar/restaurant, and plenty of parking. Fun to watch the variety of planes take off and land also.
Hickam Beach is a wonderful spot for families, especially those with toddlers and young kids. The beach is clean, well maintained, and generally calm, making it a comfortable place for parents to relax while little ones play safely in the sand. The shoreline is easy to access, and the overall atmosphere feels peaceful and family-friendly. It’s also a nice area if you enjoy light fishing, with opportunities nearby to cast a line and enjoy the scenery. Whether you’re planning a relaxed family beach day, a short outing with kids, or just want a clean and quiet place to unwind, Hickam Beach is a great choice.
Nice clean & quiet beach on Hickam AFB beside Honolulu airport. DoD I.D. card required to enter the base.
This is for military only or people who have base access. This is a very nice beach, as you can see in the picture posted, you can watch planes take off from here. The waves are not as bad as they are on the north shore or west side. So children with basic swimming skills can go in the water with little concern. In addition, if the recreational center is open, you can rent a sailboat, kayak and possibly power boats but I am not sure those are still available.
Military beach. ID required to access. A nice calm little beach. Great for families, kayaking, and stand up paddle boarding. The ocean is almost always calm here. There are two lifeguard shacks that are typically manned till around 4 pm. Ample parking. It can get busy but you can almost always find a spot to put a towel down. The busiest times are usually weekends or federal holidays. It’s a perfect spot for an after work dip in the ocean. There is a portion of the beach set off for kayak/SUP launching and another portion of swimming only. MWR has kayaks and SUPs for rent but they can stop renting if the winds get too high. Overall, not the best beach on the island but gets a higher rating due to convenience and calmness.
Beautiful beach with lifeguards, bathrooms, gentle water, and not so crowded. 4 stars because the men's bathroom has 2 showers, but one didn't work, and the other was just a pipe out of the wall with cold water.
