This Guadalupe River Park can definitely use some maintenance!!!! This park is about 120 acre on the banks of the Guadalupe River that stretches along 2.5 miles in the downtown area. It is surrounded by many Tall buildings, various businesses, and many other Historical Shops/Restaurants. A short distance from the popular San Pedro Square Market, Sap Center, Heritage Rose Garden, Discovery Meadow, and Plaza De Cesar Chavez. There are walking Trails, Tennis Courts, bike paths, playgrounds, Shades, Bridges, Benches, Restrooms, and it’s a Dogs-Friendly Environments for the public. I’m sure glad I came here on a perfect peaceful evening where the views are radiants and beautiful!!! A Lovely day right before sunset!!!! I definitely wouldn’t want to be walking around here after dark. Too Creepy!!!!! September11, 2025
New, clean, free, fun. Just wonderful. When the youngsters grow there will be lots of shade, not alot now.
A short while ago I tried the running trails at this riverside park and found the paths wellmaintained and clearly marked, which made my workout both efficient and enjoyable. The scenic views along the water added a pleasant backdrop, and the overall layout encouraged a steady pace without feeling crowded. Ill likely return for another run when my schedule permits
Very nice park and great little walk but as others have mentioned there is a bunch of trash and people (assumed to be homeless) lurking about. There are a few birds in the many beautiful trees and TONS of ground squirrels. I ran into a couple of Canadian geese and a type of duck I have never seen before with a long narrow beak.
So I walked the park from the SAP center to Coleman. The park is...It's rather depressing really. I saw: 1 - Numerous homeless/mentally ill people. Someone them ranting, screaming, and urinating in the river. 2 - People doing drugs. Though there were no needles on the ground at least. 3- Completely unkempt landscaping, overgrown all over the place. Trees fallen down everywhere (though it's been a rough winter). Little to no tree cover throughout most of the trail. 4- The trails are poorly connected, especially where they intersect with major roads. Having to trek through the tall grass or walk through questionable lots is not what I'd expect from a city park. Where they do have tunnels they are bleak looking. Overall, it's an adventurous park to trek through and photograph. It's almost interesting to see everything so overgrown and desolate. But, as a marquee park from a city as prominent as San Jose? It's shocking how neglected it is. And the homeless/mentally ill really add a lot of tension to what should be a nice park (it's large at least).
One of the best bike trails in San Jose. The park itself is pretty and features lots of space and courts for tennis and futsal (soccer). Sure, you see homeless in some parts but where else can they go? Overall so much potential for beautification. Despite its issues, it's a truly nice park.
Very nice park to walk, run and bike riding. Childrens will enjoy play area. Please confirm timing before coming as it's not always open. It has nice informative boards of various animals and Pune(San Jose's sister city).
