So much potential, but needs a lot more work. We enjoyed staying here, but the place definitely needs some money invested to restore it to what it can be. The room was strange. It was pretty big, but almost seemed like they threw out furniture, but didn’t replace it. Half of the room was just empty and there was a too-small tv hanging weirdly on the wall. The bathroom was very outdated, but shower had good pressure. The bed was quite comfortable and had nice linens. The market place on board was closed. Coffee shop had good coffee, but we did not try the restaurant. We also did a ghost tour and that was really fun. I’d love to see this place restored to its original glory.
We stayed here for a night before a cruise on the Carnival Panorama. We booked a junior suite and it was perfect for my husband, 1 year old son, and me. The ship is a little dated but thats to be expected since it was built in the 1930s. The heating/cooling is not individualized - it's the same throughout the ship. But we were comfortable during our January stay. They supplied a pack and play for my son and a they said a fan was available if we needed it, but we did not. The restaurants are expensive but the food was good and super convenient. Check in and out was a breeze. They moved all of our luggage to our room for us and then were available to assist after we checked out too. We were able to walk our 6 suitcases and stroller across the large parking lot between the Queen Mary and the Panorama. They also offered free shuttle services for those who'd rather not or can't do the walk themselves. Definitely try to stay more than a night because that's what we did and ran out of time to see everything I wanted to see. I would definitely stay here again.
Cool history there. Loved all of the art and antique pieces available to view. Also loved the view of the harbor. The rooms, are low-tech, of course. However, that can be a nice change of pace. Finally, those sensitive to vibes should expect to feel a lot of them. If one is "squeamish about ghosts," one should avoid the place. However, if one is more sophisticated about the natural vibrations of historic ships, one can have a relaxing and spiritual experience, as I did.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely incredible experience on the **Queen Mary Haunted Tour** in Long Beach, California! The ship itself is beautifully preserved and extremely well kept, you can really tell how much care goes into maintaining its history and atmosphere. Every space felt authentic, clean, and full of character, which made the stories even more immersive. Christina was an outstanding tour guide. She was incredibly informative, clearly passionate about the ship’s history, and kept the energy upbeat and engaging the entire time. She struck the perfect balance between spooky and educational, and her storytelling made the tour feel alive. You could tell she genuinely enjoys what she does, and that enthusiasm was contagious. Highly recommend this tour, especially if you’re lucky enough to have Christina as your guide!
We visited the Queen Mary on our trip out to Long Beach. The history is very interesting. We really only wanted to eat lunch but had to pay just to get in so we ended up walking thru the entire ship plus had to buy lunch separately. For the amount of time we spent there vs what we spent, it was very pricey and would explain the lack of customers. We don't mind spending money on tours and lunch but our group of four spent almost $400 for 2 hrs to eat and walk thru the ship. If you are taking a Carnival cruise out of Long Beach, this would be the perfect place to stay. The cruise terminal is a ln easy 2 minute walk across the parking lot.
My Aunt and I had lunch at the Prominade Cafe this week. It was so good! The French fries were the best I've ever had. I had the short rib grilled cheese sandwich. I can't believe how delicious it was. The clam chowder was quite good as well. Our waitress was good, but the service felt a little rushed, especially as my Aunt is near 90. Damian might be the coolest person I've ever met. I hope they give him a raise!
A beautiful ship and stay! It's like going back in time. Some may not like her vintage charm, but if you like living history this is the hotel for you. The front desk, the restaurants, and the fact you can tour at your own pace is well worth it! Food is tasty, the room was clean, bed comfy and atmosphere absolutely memorable. Highly recommend staying at the Queen Mary!
