Jack London Square

Jack London Square along the Oakland marina is one of those places that quietly grows on you over time. Years ago, this was part of my regular Capitol Corridor commute — a transfer point between sides of the Bay and just another stop in a busy schedule. Coming back now with a camera in hand, it feels completely different. The marina has a calming rhythm: boats gently rocking, reflections on the water, and that open Bay light that changes by the minute. It’s a great spot for photography, especially around sunset when the sky and water start to mirror each other. The mix of modern waterfront and historic character gives it personality without trying too hard. What really stands out for me is the nostalgia. Returning years later brought back memories of those commute days, but in a much more relaxed way. Now it’s a place to slow down, walk the promenade, and enjoy Oakland’s waterfront vibe. If you’re in the East Bay, it’s worth spending some time here — whether for photos, a stroll, or just to sit by the water and take in the scene.

Went here on short trip to Oakland! The place was ok nothing much to do over there but we went before 5pm and didn't know nothing was open before 5pm. Was trying to eat and enjoy the views but restaurants were closed so go after 5pm. Beautiful area tho.

We had a photo booth event at Scott's. Even with a lot of empty shops, it's still a treat to walk around to see the festive displays. Parking was a plus as well.

Jack London Square is a nice place to visit. Especially since they've added the FREE water taxi that bounces between Alameda (there's a playground and parking around behind Target) and JLS on the Oakland side. There are lots of shops, restaurants, an a Bayview walking paths on both sides of the Estuary.

Jack London Square is such a beautiful place to spend time, whether you’re by yourself or with a group. There’s always something to do from great food spots to relaxing walks along the waterfront. One of my favorite parts is simply watching the waves flow by the shore. It brings such a peaceful and calming vibe. Definitely a special spot in the East Bay that I always enjoy coming back to.

Wonderful evening celebrating my parents 45 anniversary at Scot's Seafood. Excellent service, food,& cocktails with breathtaking views of the bay. Lots of convenient parking.
