New Haven Pride Center

If you need food or clothes these people have you covered! Some of the most compassionate people I’ve met!

I know some of my friends have had good experiences here; I’ve found the pride center relatively inaccessible as a disabled person. Specifically they had a health centered event last summer and I tried really hard to find out about health precautions to no avail- I sent DMs to instagram account, emailed and called and got no response. Eventually while the paid event was taking place I was told masking was not required by any of the healthcare professionals and that they "ensured a safe event for everyone". I’m a queer and trans person who is now immunocompromised because of long covid and I have had to completely shut down my life because of being further disabled. Being able to be inclusive at a pride center and have conversations with people who you might now understand is integral to pride. The way this was handled was clumsy at best and gatekeeping and exclusionary. I hope the Pride Center works to further improve their events to be disabled friendly.

Newly improved version of the Pride Center! I am so pleased with the new version. Just need to be careful with the population alongside the climate.
