Wasena Park

If you're looking for a place to take a quick break during a trip, this park is the spot. We had been driving for days hopping hotels. We needed somewhere to stop and just take a few minutes to relax. It's the most peaceful place. The water was perfectly clear. It was just a quiet spot away from the rest of the world.

A very nice and quite big par to go for some afternoon walking, as well as cayacking on the Roanoke River. Worth visiting to get some relax surrounded by lovely nature.🏞🌳☀️👍🏻

A lovely, local park we are so lucky to have close by!! In a nice neighborhood, I feel safe here. Still a go to of ours. My only complaint about this park is the litter. There must be 20 garbage pails within walking distance of the parking lot and surrounding area and there is still much litter to pick up every day. I pick up what I can but this is ridiculous I don't know how anyone can throw their garbage just anywhere. EDIT: they are ripping down and rebuilding the bridge which means less people at the park. I am constantly frustrated by the amount of litter on the ground at this park when garbage pails are located throughout the greens! C'mon people, pick up after yourselves, I'm sick of it!!

The park is great for kids. They have the playground and the river to play in. Beautiful 💕

Lovely park ! Great skateboard park,bike trails and river for kayak and canoe.Dog friendly and family friendly.Even has playground and grills with picnicking pavilion.

Walking trail, skate park, bike course etc. Something for everyone. Next to the trail and parking there are the Green Goat restaurant and Hang10 Hawaiian shaved ice.

My favorite part of the ever expanding greenbelt system in the city. I just can't wait for the city and county to connect all the sections some day! Easy walk, run, or bicycle this stretch from Wasena to Roanoke Memorial Hosp. Level, no grade, great for all ages including people rocking a wheelchair, or those with yahoo's in strollers. Health Nut, one just out for a casual walk along the river, or those who want a couple of playgrounds walking distance from each other this park has it. I vote, go enjoy the park! You'll not be sorry...
