Stayed 5 nights in this absolutely stunning Hotel! An authentic New York Building with all the luxuries of a hotel! The host is really helpful & welcoming. (And if you're lucky you can give the house-dog a belly rub!) It's located in a fun, living & charming neighborhood about 20 min from the center by metro. Would absolutely recommend!

We stayed for 3 days and it was amazing! love this place! the rooms are spotless! the whole has the most beautiful artwork (I love it) The host was accommodating and understanding! She helped us when our flight was canceled. The rooms are spacious, well equipped, the location is great because is not near to the main street, so at night you don't get any sounds but still the metro station is just a few blocks away.

I loved my stay here. Though travelling alone as a woman I felt safe in this neighborhood, despite the bad perception some people may have of Harlem. The guesthouse is lovely and the host is very attentive to your needs when she is around in the mornings. The rooms are spacious with large bathrooms as well, rather unusual for NYC. The house has a lovely charm and is furnished classically, making you feel like in the movies. The heater was a little noisy but thats what you get in such an older style building. Otherwise all very clean and well looked after. Comfortable bed. Would definitely visit again!||||If there is something we can do to make your stay better, please let us know.||We look forward to your stay with us.||||Your home in New York,||Soul Food Guesthouse (Mont Morris)" in the neighborhood.

At first it seemed to me like it was a little far away from everything but I was wrong. It is located just a couple of blocks away from 3 subway stations and we were about 10 minutes away from midtown. The place is located in a beautiful quiet and safe neighbourhood. Boothe's house is a beautiful and tastefully decorated brownstone. Keep in mind you will have to carry your luggage up some narrow stairs. There is a rule to remove your shoes inside, which makes for a super clean place and a quiet one. You should also wear a facemask in the common areas. You access the house with a personalized code and the room will be ready at the time of your arrival. Having stayed in NYC several times, I can definitely tell you the rooms are bigger than your average hotel. The room is spacious. You get a bathroom, a closet (mini fridge included), a desk, a couch and a super comfortable and cozy bed. There is no housekeeping service during your stay, however you have everything you need such as several towels, toiletries, hair dryer, filtered water, a tea and a coffee maker. My room also came with a TV. This place was perfect to rest after a hectic day in the city. Boothe was very kind and helpful. I will definitely be back and I will be recommending this place to friends and family.

We were in New York for a week and had a pleasant stay. The room was big enough (lime green) and decorated in good taste. Boothe was a nice and helpful host. The guesthouse is located in a quiet and residential street, only a few minutes away from the subway (116th street). It takes between 15-30 minutes to get to Midtown and Downtown Manhattan. The stairs are a bit squeaky but the other guests were very mindful. Def recommend if you enjoy mingling with locals and/or are on a budget.

We were so impressed with this property, it was so beautifully decorated. We were very pleased with the detail throughout this building from the late 1800s, and the care put in to restoring it. Absolutely stunning aesthetics in every room. The beds were very comfortable and the entire house was very clean. The host was most pleasant, giving us great tips on where to go for dinner, etc. The location was great for what we wanted to see while in the city, Central Park and the museums. We will definitely stay here again when we return. Great price for the spacious room we booked.

It’s a guest house, so communication is brief but efficient. They ask you to pay in cash using an envelope provided which you leave downstairs. All of this was fine once we understood how such accommodation works. Would defiantly recommend and would 100% love to go back again. Our room was large, big bed, settee, drawers and cupboards, fantastic large bathroom. This was a superior room. The room was cleaned every day. So overall a fantastic stay. Situated in Mont Morris an area of historical interest, with bars and restaurants just a few yards away. Express subway train just minutes from the accommodation, shops a few minutes away, with great takeaway coffee from the wholefood store.
