Hotel Kabuki - JDV by Hyatt

Fantastic stay! The hotel is conveniently located across Japan Town. Very clean and spacious rooms. Also the complimentary coffee in the morning is great. The only downside is the noise from adjacent rooms.

I booked the two double bed room on the 16th floor (top floor) for a weekend getaway with a friend visiting from LA. The room faced Geary and Twin Peaks and we loved it. The beds were clean and comfy, the shower was large and luxurious, the robes were a nice touch and we loved the decor in the room, the hallways and the lobby. Very chic! The next morning we did a gym session on the Garden level and it was honestly the largest hotel gym I have ever seen. Tons of machines, free weights, punching bag, Pelotons, rowing machine, mirrored mining barre studio and more. Lots of fresh towels and a tasty water dispenser. We also checked out the breakfast buffet and it had an excellent variety of hot foods, fresh fruits, pastries, traditional Japanese hot cereal, juices, espresso and more. Parking was a dream as we found a spot in the public lot below the hotel for $30 for the night. Digital checkout was very convenient and the staff was delightful. Will definitely stay here again!

This is not a four star hotel. The quality of the building feels like a retrofitted motel. I booked this solely because of its Hyatt association and was sorely disappointed and regretful. I wish I’d gone with a different hotel even though I’m Hyatt loyal and the other Hyatt hotels were booked. The rooms feel cheap and lack quality in finishings, furnishings, and sound proofing. The walls crack and creak all night. The windows are paper thin and the noise from the street seeps in. Even a car driving by sounded loud from the 14th floor. The bathroom feels like a hospital and the bedding is stiff. The breakfast is not worth $33. Breakfast staff is even worse. It feels like a cheap airport lounge spread — I did not realize the price until the waiter dropped the bill on my table. I had a cup of tea, a tiny croissant, and 8 blueberries not realizing breakfast was that expensive It feels like a Japanese themed hotel in a cheesy inauthentic way. Will not be coming back.

I am beyond disappointed with my stay at Hotel Kabuki. For the premium price they charge, I expected a high-end boutique experience, but what I got was a massive letdown. The room photos online are very misleading. For the amount we paid, the room was not at all what we expected. It felt dated and lacked the quality you would expect from a hotel in this price bracket. The breakfast was an absolute joke. They charged nearly $32 per person for a spread that was worse than what you’d find for free at a Best Western. We paid a premium for basic scrambled eggs and yogurt. It is highway robbery to charge that much for such low-quality food and a lack of options. There are plenty of other places in San Francisco where your money will actually be valued. Save your cash and stay elsewhere.

This hotel is in a great location for exploring Japan town and is attached to the japan center mall parking lot, where you can park overnight for $30. We stayed for one night and we were able to walk to a lot of the restaurants and shopping near us, which was nice since parking is tough around here. Check in left more to be desired. Someone welcomed us but they didnt explain the separate elevators clearly, so we couldnt find our room at first. They also didnt share anything else about amenities or breakfast, so we had to look up everything on our own. Turns out their breakfast is $30 per person for basic breakfast options based on the menu. Our room itself was spacious and clean. We were able to hear the room next door's tv very clearly though. We had a balcony that would not lock. The ambiance, sitting areas, and art adds a lot of charm to the hotel. They have a nice big gym too.

I stayed here for one night and had a great time. My biggest highlight was the staff — Kat & Michael. Kat checked me in and helped me get all settled with the room and water. She was incredibly accommodating at the front desk and I really appreciated her help. I can say the same for Michael as well, who stayed overnight to help us with requests even though it was so late in the night. Both went out of their way to help me and that’s not the kind of service I see anymore at hotels these days, which made me really happy for picking Hotel Kabuki to stay the night in. Coming here gave me a mini flashback during my time in Japan. I enjoyed the decorations and how nicely things were put together. I look forward to staying again.

Truly regret booking a stay here. I spent almost $500 for a one night stay in a suite and it tuned out to be a nightmare. We wanted to book a nice room as we had an early morning ceremony at the SF city hall. The ceilings and walls have cracks and noticeable wear throughout the room. The bedsheet had some stains and markings with a sharpie pen. The walls are paper thin at this hotel and we were tortured all night long by our neighbor who was screaming and moaning in 15 minute intervals all night. At 2 am in the morning I requested a room change and slept for 3 hours on the 15th floor in a regular room. I could hear plumbing (water flow/flushes) from adjacent rooms and every door opening/closing was audible. This is on top of sirens and traffic below. Do not book this hotel!
