Detroit Foundation Hotel

The hotel is beautifully designed and the rooms comfortable and spacious. The service was friendly enough. We were a bit surprised to be asked if we had a reservation for dinner at the Apparatus Room when it was completely empty, and the staff seemed as if they had to "see" if there was availability (we didn’t have a reservation, but were sat almost immediately and remained the only diners for the entirety of our meal). Our waiter was wonderful. Only oddity was that I ordered a trout entree and I was served salmon, but assured it was trout. No matter, because the salmon was delicious. The hotel location is unbeatable, especially during the holidays. Very walkable and conveniently located. I would recommend to anyone visiting.

The Detroit Foundation Hotel is outstanding in every way. Nestled in a storied, early-20th-century building, the hotel blends rich history with modern comfort. What a beautiful reuse of space! This elegant hotel is full of small touches that will impress and delight. The rooms are simple and modern but beautifully designed, and the combination of contemporary touches with an eye to Detroits history will inspire! The service was attentive and helpful, and the merch is not to be missed!! There is so much to do around here as well - stop by the Guardian building to continue to be amazed at Detroit architecture, grab a cocktail at the apparatus room and ask the bartender or concierge for recommendations to get to know Detroit’s impressive foodie scene.

Absolutely beautiful, historic site in the heart of everything you want to see in Detroit. The staff was exceptional at check in, the bar and restaurant staff at The Apparatus Room were amazing, the food and drink were top notch and our room was stunning! Steps to every event at Campus Martius, the Christmas Market, and world-class bars and eats. We had an awesome experience and will definitely be coming back! 5/5 stars!

Came to town for the Chris Brown concert with not a lot of detail on this hotel. Honestly we only booked because it was the first hotel with a room available. I can tell you now that I am NOT disappointed. The hotel was very clean and modern. The rooms were aesthetically pleasing and the shower was amazing! The staff were really friendly and switched us from a double queen to a king with no hesitation when we asked for a room change. They put us in their top floor which had a nice view of the lake. Overall we will definitely book again for a couples only trip. With that said, I did not see many children around but that was perfect for our reasoning of being in town. Rest and relaxation.

We had so much fun at the lovely hotel. It was quite a Halloween parade outside as a Comic-con was going on by the convention center. The restaurant and bar were nice and the historical touches were a nice neighborhood d to its firehouse beginning.

Do not recommend. Zero housekeeping even though requested from the front desk both nights. That shouldn’t even be a thing in 2025 at a high-end property. The restaurant downstairs only has one cooked option on the menu for breakfast (eggs) and service took almost an hour for the group. Lastly they charge you an additional 3.1% to pay your room bill with a credit card. Outrageous. Stay at a Hilton or Marriott.
