This hotel was in a great location but it needs a major update. In our room we had wall paper peeling everywhere, drop ceiling had several holes and stains on it, the pull out couch looked like it was from the 90's. The bathroom was nice and clean with decent water pressure. The bed was pretty comfortable. I was also told at check in that they don't take discover, I thought this was strange since this is how I reserved and paid for the room from their website. Parking was $25 a night and was deducted from the hold they put on the card at the end of the stay.
The location is incredible, especially if you plan to visit St. Louis without a car. I used the light rail and bus to get absolutely everywhere, since there's a light rail station and a major bus depot literally across the street. The bed was comfortable, the linens were clean, and I had a very nice view looking south towards the Anheuser-Busch Brewery (which I visited). The staff was extremely friendly, and even got me an early check in several hours early. Now I do understand some of the complaints most people have. This hotel is in serious need of an update. New wallpaper, new light fixtures, new carpets, in particular. The bathroom was totally fine, as was the bed itself, but the decor just needs an overhaul. I was by myself and there for one night only, so I really didn't care, but I would strongly encourage OYO to invest in updating the place. With such a great location, this could be a truly exceptional hotel with just a bit of work.
I seriously don’t understand how anyone could leave more than 2 stars on this place. We were just passing through St. Louis on a road trip, the Hyatt was booked up so we used this as our backup because the photos looked pretty good and the pricing was similar. However upon arriving I realized it’s in one of the worst parts of town. They have private parking which costs a whopping $25 per night. There’s no free breakfast, the bar "closes when it feels like it" I went an hour before they closed and couldn’t even get a salad. There’s no breakfast close at all except a tiny cafe downstairs which barely has any food. The rooms don’t even have windows! Most of the hotel is outdated and very ran down looking. Most of the furniture in the rooms looks like it’s from old horror movies. Absolutely hideous elevators. They should be charging no more than $60 per night for this place, I paid $135 which is a crime! I’m only leaving 2 stars because the hotel staff were friendly and helpful and my car didn’t get stolen/broken into. Complete dump with filthy rooms. The building itself has incredible architecture and has massive potential if only a competent and wealthy chain bought them out.
This hotel has an excellent location to the theater for a concert across the street that and the shower water was hot was all the positive I can muster. Now for the nitty gritty, they supplied the room with one set of towels, there was 2 of us, usually a hotel gives you that without asking. The hallways are long and scary. We felt like we were in the Shining. The parking garage was narrow and poorly constructed. Very easy to scrap your car on the pillers. It's more downhill from there. I literally checked the mattress for bedbugs because I was so shocked at the appearance (there were none that I saw) but the box spring was badly stained. There were no USB port on any of the lamps or the clock which is different from what I'm used to. Carpet had a few stains not bad just unappealing and a must to wear slippers or socks. The furniture was outdated and mismatched. It was very worn. We were very shocked and appalled because the price should be one star motel rates. We didn't like the room at all and would never recommend anyone to book there.
I am not usually a negative reviewer but I felt like the photos of the hotel we stayed at totally duped us. I booked an express deal for last Friday and previous I have had awesome luck so I never hesitate! We ended up being booked at the Oyo in downtown St. Louis. Great location, I looked through the photos and they looked decent. When we got to the hotel, the people at the front desk were…opposite of friendly. As we were walking to our room, I noticed the hallways were kind of dirty. Then we got to our room and I was absolutely mortified. I’ve attached photos. You’re better off to stay at a cheap motel than here. There was a burn hole and nasty stain on the mattress with NO mattress cover. The desk chair was so stained and nasty, it had a big tear in the back. There was dust and dirt everywhere, the walls and doors were scuffed and stained. They closed the pool an hour earlier than was posted. To my surprise, the pool was (visibly) clean.
I feel like this hotel has been treated a bit unfairly by all the low reviews. Here’s my takeaways Service - staff was super nice, especially the bald, bearded gentleman at the front desk. He made sure I took care of my parking situation before I went up to my room so I wouldn’t have to worry about being towed. Staff was nice, helpful, and happy to answer questions. No complaints here. Rooms - they were definitely a bit dated. AC didn’t seem to blow as cold as I wanted in my room, and there were marks on the walls. Nothing in the room made me absolutely hate the hotel, but the rooms could definitely use a touch up. Location - right next to enterprise center with easy access to the highway. Additionally, I never felt unsafe around the hotel. No complaints.
We were told we could park in the garage for free while we took the train to kc and stayed there again when we returned. They tried to charge us an outrageous parking fee. The rates may be decent but parking charges per day raise the prices significantly. The beds were terribly uncomfortable and the phone didn’t work. We had to go get our own extra linen and clean bedding. Lobby is beautiful and pool area very nice but a little too excluded for comfort or children running up and down the elevator. Trash sat outside doors rooms were very dark. We r supposed to stay there again in December but are now unsure unless we r assured these things have been remedied
