American Inn Chesapeake - Portsmouth

The wifi didn't work for the first day, but it did on the second and third. The smoke alarm battery was dead, and the teller at the desk pulled one out of her desk. No packaging or anything. She told me to change it myself. It needed a phillups head screw driver. The battery didn't fix the issue. I had to sleep with earbuds on and music. It still bothered me, didn't get much sleep. High traffic near here. I got a single room on the bottom floor. Bathroom is spacious. I always apprieate that. Water pressure was good. Cold refrigerator. Plenty of electrical ports. Access to television. Microwave. Room service was random. I would come here again, but make sure to have a fresh 9 volt battery.

I work for a company and I as well as several companies room there , weekly. We have gotten so we have to take our own sheets , last week we arrived and my sheets still had cheesy finger prints , there was beet still in the fridge from the previous occupants from the week before , there has been times there are no blankets on the bed, one week we had to wait over an hour for check in that was already registered for. If it wasn't per company must stay together, I most definitely would not be staying here.

not a lot to say for my visit. it's a working man hostel. it's old, dated, in industrial park, noisy from outdoor trucks. upon room entrance everything is old, faucet drips, old musty smell, food was left in refrigerator not cleaned out, bar of soap small size is what needs to be thrown away. not a family place wouldn't take wife and kids. as a man just needing a bed and shower it met my needs. however will not stay again. location horrible nothing available. got what i paid for.

I am there weekly , we have had trouble with sheets not being clean, inability to have blankets,used wash rags laying around, old food being left in the refrigerator microwave not working properly, delayed check in , even with prior registration, the showers are almost always cold ,which is miserable after a long day at work. Up date on the place. I called down after one of the weeks staying bc when we got there no one was at the front desk and we had to go else where , I had left my Roku there by accident the week before. I called ask front desk if they could check they said no , so I had one of the people I work with , staying there go to front desk and ask to go in and get it since the room was vacant , they wouldn't not allow him in the room or check for the device. Now, we have people using our Roku and have to change all of our subscribed channels and changing things on it. Now we have to reset all of our passwords. Also if you are going to stay take your own clean sheets bc they don't clean them and take pillows bc they are absolutely out dated and flat !

The lady that lives at the hotel claimed I was stealing her HDMI cables. I mean, what black market am I going to sell HDMI cables on? Come to find out the HDMI cable was curled up behind the TV. Again she's accusing me of stealing the HDMI cables, but after a while of talking to her, she says when I reserve the room online she only receives a certain amount. I was like..... ohhhhhh... okay.... you're not making enough money. Mind you, this is the American Inn.

AVOID this place completely!!! I booked a room for one night for me and my 9 year old I showed up at 1am and the lady from India turned me and my son away talking about their system shows it’s June 22nd when today is June 23rd. Expedia would not let me cancel the reservation without losing my $. Booking here was one of the biggest mistakes I’ve ever made in my entire LIFE!!!!
