R&R Hostel Birmingham

While my stay was generally acceptable, I observed an unsettling interaction involving a long-term resident or staff member who operates a white SUV frequently parked near the entrance. Middle aged African American gentleman man. If you are a frequent guest I'm sure you have encountered him over the last year or so. I would advise keeping a professional distance from this individual, as their behavior seemed volatile during my observation

Not as cheap as it should be. Bathroom door doesn’t close all the way, house smells like cigarettes, neighborhood is a bit scary. Felt like I really immersed myself in Birmingham. We planned to stay two nights but left after the first.

This was very low cost and the people were all very friendly. I enjoyed my stay here

Clean and comfortable place with private rooms. The place is located in a historic part of central Birmingham so it is not "brand new" but I wouldn't consider it 'shady'. I've stayed here as a solo traveler and I never had any issues in the area. House is also historic with a vintage charm. Overall much better than your average hostel in terms of cleanliness and amenities.

Eva and Eric are A+ hosts: responsive, extremely friendly, accommodating and attentive to guests' needs. Check in (via a smart lock code) was effortless and the hosts provided detailed directions to help locate the bunkroom and bunk. In addition to bed linens, each bunk comes with a pillow, washcloth and towel. Toiletries are available in the bathroom (no toothpaste). The place overall delivers on its boast of ample amenities - just about anything a guest might need is present. The front door stuck and was out of level, requiring hard yanks and shoves to get it open and closed. The plumbing fixtures in the bathtub were loose and pulled away from the wall. Five stars for R&R Hostel - a cozy location convenient to downtown and right at the intersection of Interstates 65 and 59. Edited to provide more detail.

Its nothing as advertised. The neighbourhood is so shady. The rooms are dirty, stinks of cigarettes and weeds. The apartment is old, the washrooms are filthy and you dont even get enough room to sit on your bunk beds. Got out of there within 5 mins. Would never recommend it to anyone.
