Des Lux Hotel

This hotel is amazing and so unique. I loved everything about my stay! The beds are comfy, the rooms are huge, the free breakfast was great with a lot of variety, and the location is a perfect walk to most places in the city! The only downside I found was that our window looked directly into another room, but no biggie, close the curtains! I will definitely stay here again! Way better than chain hotels.

Nice big spacious room with a great sized bathroom. Room was mostly clean only noticed a little dust on the minibar snacks which makes me think they might not be the freshest. There could also be a few outlets near the beds so you don't have to pull out the end tables. The overall decor and vibe of this place is amazing. The bar is great and the drinks are responsibly priced for a hotel.

Stayed here when we were in town. Partner got the king suite with the whirlpool tub which was lovely except the whirlpool tub did not work. Bath was still nice, bed was very comfortable and the throw faux fur blanket was super soft. Some minor imperfections in the room with paint or scuffed furniture but overall it was nice. Only like 2 blocks or so from the sculpture park which was wonderful to walk through. Also walked to a lovely place for dinner and walked around downtown exploring.

Everything about our experience was amazing! We were celebrating our anniversary and Mary at the front desk made sure our entire stay was special - champagne, a tour of Presidential suite (my hubby & I really wanted to see it and she made it happen!), dinner recommendations and was just the most attentive/kind person. Our room was a corner suite with the best views, furniture and decor. Sherry at the bar was so sweet and kept our drinks and fun times rolling! We took so many fun pics in the lobby, just an overall really cool place to stay.

We loved using the Des Lux as our home base during our wedding in Des Moines last weekend. Sandy and staff were so amazing and accommodating leading up to the wedding, even letting us come tour the suites several months before. The decor was so fun and my husband used the in house barber services to get ready. Breakfast was delicious. The suites were spacious and clean. The bar was decorated so fun and we got to use it for our first look. The staff even turned over our rooms on the day of the wedding so we could come back to clean bedding. Our only complaint is that we called ahead 2 weeks before to ask if it was ok to invite our wedding party and guests to the bar the night before the wedding, wanting to give the bar tender a heads up. They told us that was fine. I’m not sure if there was a miscommunication but one of our guests told us that the bar tender made some passive aggressive comments about how we should have called ahead. But she was great to us and made great drink nonetheless. Overall we love the Des Lux and will for sure be back!

The nice woman at Front Desk said that they upgraded our room and told we were going to love it! She was right!! The lobby and the Decor at this hotel is stunning, chic, and luxurious! I love the style! The room was huge with the fireplace in two person whirlpool. It was set for romance. I would recommend this place for any special occasions! On our way out they asked what are favorite part was? Everything!

The rooms are spacious, the beds comfortable, the pillows shift but supportive, shower has great water pressure, and the ambiance is eclectic and fun. The best part, the bathroom is HUGE!
