This is a historic location and is very lovely. Unfortunately it sits near the interstate so it was not a quiet night of rest but wasn’t intolerable. The bed was very comfortable so I was able to sleep well in spite of the traffic noise. This is not a typical hotel…there is no lobby or room service so come prepared with your own snacks, drinks, etc. Don’t get me wrong…I loved staying there and will definitely be going back!
Positive: The room was super clean. The environmental staff person was amazing-Beautiful Soul. She was super friendly, very attentive and we loved her. She makes your stay fabulous. The free breakfast is NOT free. Check that out first! Negative: The lift was out the entire time. Walking the flight of stairs with all of our things: luggage, clothing for balls, ice chest, float items, necessity items was a chore. There were children SMALL children across the hall from us who were unruly and loud.
Don't get me wrong, they have done a mostly lovely job of renovating and upkeeping the old buildings. But the location is terrible - there is so much noise - between the trains and cars it is impossible to sleep. We were in the brick house next to the main building, whilst its lovely and the bed comfortable - the bathroom is a disaster and you can't access the balcony without going through the bathroom. Then there is the 'breakfast' - this is a Bed&Breakfast apparently - except, breakfast is served in their restaurant/cafe, there is no choice, no substitutions, no juice, terrible coffee - if you want anything other than what they offer, you pay. This for me is a hard NO - Bed&Breakfast means breakfast, never have I seen this set up at a B&B. Overall I see the charm and why people might want to stay here, but the noise and surroundings just make it for me a don't go and wouldn't come back. Especially with the breakfast set up - our server was rude, dismissive and looked like she wished we hadn't have come in. Other guests had the same issues and questions with breakfast, so we were not alone in our disgust.
It is fabulous! Historic house in a historic part of town. The suite was breathtaking. The free daily brunch was provided by the Bistro across brick paved street. Gaslighting lit the streets, giving a sense of nostalgia and romance. The house has a lower porch, lined with iron railings, chairs on the porch. The second floor has a veranda with the same railings and chairs along with a small table for eating or playing cards. There is no way to give all the things I loved, just visit their web page. It says so much more, and everything there is 100% accurate. Will go back again, and again.
Nice historic inn. Wonderfully decorated. Still needs a little work. Our heater in our room did not work right on a cold night. Froze.. ugh. Plumbing on the bar sink was so loose we were afraid to use it.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The moment you step into Fort Conde Inn, you’re immersed in classic Southern charm. The atmosphere is warm, refined, and instantly makes you feel at home. Beautifully kept, peaceful, and thoughtfully hosted — a truly special place to stay in Mobile. The hosts/staff went above and beyond, offering helpful local tips and making sure I felt at home throughout my visit. Whether you’re coming for a weekend getaway, a historic Mobile experience, or simply a peaceful retreat, Fort Conde Inn is exceptional.
This is a beautiful hotel very historic and well maintained overall. The paper blinds in our room were filthy and in the barhroom not sure if it was a a stain or mold. There was no poster on the back of the door with evacuation information. The security is very lax. They use residential grade Schlage C type locks on all their doors. Which the keys are easily copied at any place with a key machine. The exterior locks were not working properly as I used a thumb turn to exit the building, and could not relock the door even with the key. The room did not have any way to secure the door from the inside to keep someone that may have copied the key out. Plus you had to use the thumb turn rather than using door leaver to unlock the door which is a safety concern. The room I was in had a nonfunctioning safe with a sign stating that fact. The doorway to the room was wide enough to accommodate a wheelchair. Finding a ramp into the building was difficult to locate and the elevator was out of order during this visit. The book stated there is an alarm clock, looked all over and could not find it.
