Huron River Guest House

The excellent host Chris received us in his beautiful home for our visit to the Ann Arbor Film Festvial. His house is really comfy, the bed and the carpets also make us feel lighter. There were plenty of birds in the morning singing and eating in front of the patio windows, it was very pleasant to see them while we enjoyed our coffee. The Huron River is really nice to walk along. The location is about 10 min ride from the downtown area, an excellent location to get some rest after the festival buzz.

Do you wonder why this is called a different B&B? Much has been said about the spacious beauty of this home. But what really makes it different is the host, Chris. I travel to Ann Arbor for medical reasons. Last summer was my fourth stay at this B&B. Chris picked me up at the airport, brought groceries when I needed them, and took me to the hospital in Chelsea for my treatment. He would have taken me to the airport for my trip home if the time had worked out. Chris has a way of knowing when I need solitude or some company. Traveling alone, it’s important for me to feel safe. I certainly do there. It’s also nice to have someone checking on me and available to help after medical procedures. This is just a great place with a great host.

I travel from Missouri to Ann Arbor for medical reasons. On my first trip I discovered this (very) different B&B, and you can believe the description of the home and surroundings other reviewers have written. Just delightful. Since my first stay I have been back two times, and I will return in April. Along with its artistic beauty the house is spacious and comfortable with a delightful view from its wall of windows. And I enjoy solitude there, as well as great conversations with the owner, Chris. He is very considerate of the comfort and needs of his guests. Chris took me to a medical appointment, bought me groceries, stores my traveling clothes and items for my next stay, helped out when my ride to the airport was late, and is mailing me a favorite pendant I left behind. A personal touch that is rare. Except for the medical part , I'm looking forward to my fourth stay in my "home away from home", and to the good company there.

We visited Ann Arbor from London UK, for the Film Festival and were lucky enough to choose 'A Different B and B' as our home for 5 days. A great experience, with Chris as our extremely laid back host; he really opened his home to us - and what a home! An architectural delight along with the Charles Eames chairs and super comfy beds. The setting near the water was glorious and being only a few miles to the centre was not a problem without a car, with 8 dollar Uber rides. Highly recommended from a couple of seasoned travellers.

I really enjoyed my stay at this truly unique home. It was located just outside of downtown Ann Arbor and the University of Michigan and within walking distance to a golf course and the scenic Huron River. Chris is a wonderful host and goes above and beyond to make your stay a comfortable and memorable one. I plan on returning year after year.

Chris was extremely friendly and helpful. I liked the pool and hot tub, while my wife loved the birds and flowers. Best part was access to the bike path; the Ford presidential library was just 20 minutes away, and downtown was just 25. A perfect location!

We love architecture, so we appreciated our time at this mid-century home. The setting is a serene wooded property on the outskirts of Ann Arbor. The pool is a nice retreat after a busy day in the city. Most importantly, Chris is a most welcoming host.
