Was a little nervous because of other reviews but our stay was great! Checked in online, no issues with access codes. You can call the concierge service for quick and friendly assistance if needed. The place was clean and comfortable. The kitchen had basic necessities for cooking. The parking garage was super close, $33 for overnight but considering the price of the room it wasn’t too much. There is a nice gym on the main floor and a comedy club in the basement. Cups N Chai is a lovely coffee joint next door. Shopping, bars and food all in walking distance. Will be coming back!
I really like the 'hotel with remote service' model and this hotel company (Blue Suede) does a good job with it. The hotel itself is above a nice little coffee shop and an amateur comedy club. Entry is by codes you get from the all digital check-in process. The rooms are basically former apartments - think Airbnb on steroids. They are very nice but with minimal amenities in the rooms. If you are comfortable with not having staff on side at a desk, this is a very great and affordable option right in the heart of Ann Arbor. I definitely recommend it! 💯
As it stands right now, my feeling would be a review amounting to two out of five. The room was nice and clean, and the area was good but the stay was not smooth. We needed to store our bags prior to check in time, a service offered by hotels and while offered here our code to access the community did not activate until our check in time making the offering almost useless. We also wished to use the TV which did not work, and spent a lot of time trying to tell the support that it didn’t work with them either not believing or not understanding. They sent a tech who failed to even recognize the issue, then sent a tech the next day who could not fix the issue. Functionally we did not have a TV for our entire stay. Finally on our last night we were awoken and sent out into the cold due to a fire alarm at two in the morning. No explanation or remuneration has as yet been offered. All in all, the location is good, and might be a suitable place for those on a budget or those willing to cram more people in on the more spacious accommodation but for those looking for a hotel-esque experience would be best looking elsewhere.
Rooms are nice and clean. And yes I did have a problem with the access codes and you have to text them. You can actually get stuck in the elevator and have to text them cuz they can't hear you. The bed was extremely comfortable. Plenty of pillows. Not enough towels. Not enough places to hang wet towels. There should have been at least four to six large towels in the room, but there were only two. And interestingly enough, the kitchen silverware drawer completely interfered with the refrigerator. That was pretty funny
Definately got over charged because of concert we attended.....it was Very, very Basic but clean, furnishing tired and of low quality, no housekeeping during our stay so maybee take towels. Nearly £1200 for a 2 night stay with NO SLEEP 👎 because of noise from surrounding bars and other guests till after 3am.....absolutely disgraceful! Also left our luggage in their storage and had to wait over 20 mins for access as they deleted our access code at 11am. Felt scammed, the few staff that we actually seen were pleasant. Location is good if you are attending Michigan Stadium for an event about a 25 min walk.....but unless its your only option which for us it was I would definately NOT stay here again.
The "hotel" is more like an Airbnb than anything else. No security, no staff on site, and run-down and dirty rooms that are clearly not cleaned between guests. Shower was pretty disgusting with hair and mold, beds are small and cheap, interfaces to enter rooms and use elevators are cheap, clunky and just not secure if you have ever watched a single pen-testing video on YouTube. Walls are thin, you can hear EVERYTHING from other rooms or businesses around you. Often going late into the night. Get a white noise app if you have the misfortune of staying here. More of a me issue but I also had a pretty severe allergic reaction to the shampoo they stocked in the rooms which I’ve never had before. I’m going to be coming back to Ann Arbor in the future. But not this "hotel".
DO NOT STAY AT EXHIBIT A2. JUST DON’T. | I noticed that someone is deleting the bad reviews. |But do not believe them if they tell you they fixed the problems with the access codes. The workers tell me every single day there are problems with people getting in! And almost every person I talked to had trouble.||A few weeks before my visit I happened to read the reviews and was horrified at the problems with the access codes to get in. We were planning this trip with my 89-year-old mother-in-law, and I knew it would be a disaster if we could not use the elevator or get into the room. She is very weak and cannot stand outside of a room while we try to get in. So I wrote to the hotel and said the following:|"We will be travelling with my mother-in-law who is 89 … so could you confirm that you have resolved the issues with the access codes and that the hotel is accessible for someone with mobility issues? And can you confirm that we have completed all of the check-in processes necessary to obtain the codes? (some of the reviews mentioned problems with check in)."||They wrote back and said: "I want to assure you that the issues with the access codes have been resolved."||But, oh boy. The issues with check in and the access codes were NOT resolved. I got a text the night before my check in saying that my security deposit had not gone through and could I please enter my credit card again. In that text I also learned that they had changed our room assignment so that we no longer had a room on the same floor as my 89-year-old-mother-in-law, which was also not okay. She needs frequent care and we had to be able to go back and forth frequently and quickly. They ended up moving rooms around, so we were near, but not next to each other, as promised. ||But I could live with having to be slightly further apart, but I have never had a more frustrating experience in my life than the one I had trying to check in and get access codes. I have FIFTY-SEVEN texts back and forth with Exhibit A2 trying to enter my credit card for identification. 57. That’s the actual number. Not hyperbole. They kept sending me links to enter my credit card and not one of the links worked. Not one. In of my texts to them, I said: "I have now been working on this for several hours PLEASE, I beg of you, send me a working link to pay the security deposit." And they continued to send links to nothing but the same page over and over and over again. This went on for 2.5 hours!!||Finally, the person on the phone suggested that, because their secure website did not work, that I send a PHOTOGRAPH of my CREDIT CARD! A photograph. Over text. With my credit card numbers on it. And the expiration date. And the security code. You know, the security code that keeps your information … secure. The one you should never photograph and send over text. And she made it seem as though I was being unreasonable in not wanting to do that. ||After spending 2.5 hours just getting my credit card entered, I asked the woman on the phone to reassure me that the access codes would work when we got there. "Of course," she said. "All of the people who wrote those reviews did not know to put a # sign at the end of the code or they tried to check in too early. Otherwise the access codes always work." This was a lie. ||Sure enough, we got to the hotel and the access code to one of our rooms did not work. I spent another hour and a half on the phone trying to get that access code to work. And every time she told me she was resetting it and it would work. But it did not. Finally she gave me some kind of universal access code to get into the room—after an hour and a half on the phone with her. It was during this time that the worker cleaning the rooms told me that this happens EVERY SINGLE DAY! The only thing worse than incompetence, is lying about the incompetence. ||And then when we went out for dinner, there were 10 people sitting in the lobby who could not get into their rooms. And another 4 outside who were on the phone with customer service because they could not get in either. So I started to ask people in the elevator and the halls if they had trouble. Of all of the people I asked, only one couple in the elevator said that they had gotten in without a hitch. One. ||So maybe you will be that one person for whom the codes work, but the odds are not good. Do not stay here unless you are exceedingly patient and do not mind spending several hours just trying to check in. If you do get in, the rooms are fine --not well cared for, but fine. I found them to be clean and pleasant although a bit tight. I had to climb over my husband to get into the bed. And I could see that they did not repair things that had been broken. I could live with all of that, but missing so much of my precious weekend because they don’t want to hire someone to sit at a lobby desk and problem solve is ridiculous. I will never ever stay at this hotel or any of their properties again! I would suggest you don’t either. ||It’s like the opposite of the Hotel California. You can leave, but you just can never check in!
