The hotel was good and service at UN Cafe was exceptional. Sonel, who is from Türkiye, greeted us warmly every morning and made us feel genuinely welcome. Thanks to her kindness and positive energy, we were able to start each day of our trip in a great mood. She was truly the best staff member at the hotel. However, my experience with one of the housekeeping staff was very disappointing. Even though I clearly stated that I did not need housekeeping service, the housekeeper still entered the room to check. While I was resting, she repeatedly knocked loudly on the door, even when the "Do Not Disturb" sign was placed outside, which woke me up. On the day of check-out, I accidentally left a very large power bank and charging cable on the bed. It seems they may have been thrown away, and I was told multiple times that nothing was found, without even a word of apology. I understand that it was ultimately my mistake for leaving the items behind. However, as far as I know, it is against Hilton policy to dispose of a guest’s belongings at the housekeeper’s discretion. The lack of proper handling and the front desk’s response did not match the reputation of the hotel. While the service at UN Cafe was truly outstanding, my experience with housekeeping was unfortunately one of the worst I have ever had.
Although we were promised an upgrade and didn't get one, we ended up in a Queen room which had a lovely city view. The rooms were spacious and the beds were so comfy. It was around a 20 minute walk to Times Square and around a 10 minute walk to Grand Central Station. Ideal for getting around. The staff were lovely.
We had a thoroughly enjoyable four day stay. The room was spacious, spotlessly clean and well appointed. The staff we interacted with were all helpful and friendly. It is a New York trait to be perfunctory don't interpret this as rudeness. The hotel location is great but the WiFi was a little sketchy and prone to dropping out. We didn't dine in or use the bar. Now the $35 destination charge, it's there in black and white when you book. When we checked in, it was clearly explained. You pay $35 per room per day. It doesn't roll over and is charged including the day of arrival or departure. If you are checking out early then you need to spend on the day of arrival! It can be used in the hotel restaurants, bars and the grab and go shop in the lobby. We bought pastries, soft drinks and granola bars to get our monies worth.
Positive: Large rooms with comfortable beds Negative: $35 daily fee that was given back to you in a credit to spend at the hotel. Don't make people spend even more money at your hotel in the form of credit.
This is the grossest hotel I have stayed at in a very long time. I've been traveling for about 3 months now and have stayed in almost 10 places within this time frame. I couldn't even use the toilet when I arrived into my room due to the pubic hairs all over it. I took pictures, cleaned what I could with wipes I brought with me and showed the front desk. Their solution was to instruct me to email management. So I proceeded to continue to clean my room with my own cleaning products. Along with pubic and other hair all over my room, tub and toilet, the floors are dirty, the hand towels look used, and there was only one bath towel, making me think it was just a leftover one from the past guest. I didn't bring enough cleaning supplies to do the kind of clean this room needs. Nor should I have to. Extra point just for location. Come on Hilton, do better.
Room was very nice, bigger than expected. Clean and comfy bed. Staff was helpful and professional. Hotel is in a great location, really close to empire State bldg and lots of attractions. On site restaurants look great but I didn't have the opportunity to try them
Was a very good hotel. They had this daily fee thay was charged which was not explained before. So you pay $38. But how it was explained to ua ia yoy get charged $38 a day t use say at the Cafe. But was told that if yoy dont use it yoy lose it. So we would grab stuff from the café. On check out we were refunded the #28 but charged for stuff from the café. Had we known that we would be refunded no way would we had shopped at thw Cafe daily. Other than that the room was noce. The view was wicked. Close enough to downtown Manhattan. You can get your steps in for sure. Staff was pleasant and noce. Would stay there again but no to the Cafe. Lol.
