Pier 40 at Hudson River Park

Pier 40 at Hudson River Park is a unique waterfront facility that blends recreation, sports, and scenic views in one location. The pier offers generous open space, well-maintained athletic fields, and excellent access to the Hudson River walkway, making it a great spot for both organized sports and casual outdoor activity. The rooftop and field areas are generally clean and well-kept, and the location provides a refreshing break from the dense city environment. The views along the river are a standout feature, especially during sunset. That said, parts of the structure are aging, and some of the interior areas could benefit from modernization and improved lighting. Navigation within the pier can feel a bit confusing for first-time visitors due to its size and industrial layout. Increasing signage and upgrading certain facilities would enhance overall usability. Despite these minor issues, Pier 40 remains a valuable recreational hub in Manhattan and a great place for sports leagues, community events, or simply enjoying the waterfront.

This is the pier where we got on the cruise to The Statue of Liberty. It's pretty busy. We noticed a small dog park onsite which was a nice touch. Didn't go inside as we were there only to catch the cruise.

We have a monthly parking space here in the 40 pier which is super convenient and close to our apartment. The staff has always been friendly and helpful! Keep in mind that a lot of sports practices take place here so There is heavy foot traffic and lots of bikes so always look twice. city tour boats can be located on the right side of the building. We Are hopeful that once the weather gets nice they would have the right side of the building painted. But I made this review mostly because my favorite part about the location of pier 40 on this portion of the pier is the beautiful sunsets that you get to see! Absolutely Breathtaking Sunsets! I took the liberty of sharing the one I took this evening on 1/22/26 for everyone to enjoy!

Such scam. We used a shitty boat and literally nobody inside enjoyed the "experience", avoid this and save your money instead

Okay. They did not allow to sit on the top because it was supposedly premium price but we were never told that there is a preminum pricing. I think people can take Satan Island ferry and benefit from the same view for free.

Liberty Cruise was epic. Protip-Book VIP for a few bucks more so you don’t have to wait in line and get a great seat on top.
