Upper Moro Campground

We had a great stay at Upper Moro Campground in Crystal Cove State Park. The rangers were super helpful and friendly, which really added to the experience. It was nice to have both a pit toilet and a trash can available — makes things much more convenient for a backcountry site. The pit toilet was a bit smelly, but that’s pretty expected for this type of setup. Each campsite had its own picnic table, which was a great touch, though a few of them were a little wobbly. The pit toilet at Lower Moro Campground was definitely in better shape, but overall, Upper Moro is still a beautiful, peaceful spot to camp with great views and easy access to the trails. Would definitely come back

It's a primitive campsite. Not much to have as far as luxuries but it was something my husband and I knew hiking in. We stayed 1 night and it was peaceful and amazing however: - LOTS of mosquitoes. I got bit all over my ankles even while wearing leggings & hiking socks. - The reservation said it was pack in pack out but there are actually tons of trash cans near the bathrooms all along the upper & lower moro campgrounds so that was a nice surprise. We had a very nice time up here and plan on coming back once it gets a little cooler. Super beautiful hike.

We started from the lower parking lot. Went up right at the first cut to end up on Moro Ridge Spur / Road. From there just go straight to Upper Moro Campground. The campsite have no water so take your own. They have a outhouse / pit for restroom. Mosquitoes 🦟 are ruthless anywhere and I don’t know why thought up here was the exception. Take your measures to prep against mosquitoes. I took us 1 hour and 45 minutes to ascend 974 ft, distance 3.15 miles. Make sure if your backpacking to use the rainfly as the fog will come in and wet everything. Will be trying Lower Moro next time. Have fun and Happy Camping

The campground has great views and the campsites for motorhomes are terraced to be more private and also enable views of the ocean. We have a 38 ft class A motorhome and had no trouble getting around and backing into the campsite. The restrooms and showers are private and very well made and kept. ||The camp staff are very friendly and helpful. We will be going back soon.

Great for bikepacking. We started from the parking lot. Be aware of mosquitos.

This is primitive camping where you need to bring in everything you need, food, water etc. There are pit toilets and that is what you get. You will need to bike or hike your way in but if you like to camp with a view this is the place to do it. We MTB'd in and carrying all the amenities you need can weigh you down but it was great just the same. We've camped twice here Upper and Lower Moro and I highly recommend Upper Moro to anyone. It really is a great spot!

Very hard to determine spots. Some are marked, some are not, and some have a million picnic tables. Lower moro had better bathrooms, views, and sites.
