Wow! After 50 years of camping, I can honestly say Callies Lake and Campground my be THE best campground I've ever stayed at. From offering a variety of full hook-up to primitive sites set on an amazing piece of land with a good majority bordering their beautiful lake, to all the extras that makes this place so special: the smell of homemade biscuits baking in the office in the morning; the communal fire pit; the maintained and level sites; a history that warms the heart; the perfect location for access to all the area has to offer; kind and considerate guests; an outdoor stage for summer concerts. Callies made you feel like you were staying with family — which was evident by the circles of friends and families that sprang up during our stay. It took me back to my own childhood — where kids were fishing and exploring instead of sitting on their phones; where the smell of your neighbors cooking breakfast made you regret only bringing cereal; where campfires peacefully lit up the night sky. Even their campground merchandise was beautifully designed and reasonably priced! I think the last time I purchased a campground t-shirt was in 1982. Kudos to the family and staff at Callies — you should be proud of the community you continue to foster.

The people here are super nice and the food is really good. They do charge extra for the wifi. We did enjoy our stay here, enough that we came back a couple weeks later when we were in the area again, however, the second time around it had snowed and that's where the access issues come into play. The driveway up is pretty steep, and when things are normal it's not much of an issue but once it snowed, I couldn't make it back up the hill, and got stuck, and slid back down the hill in my truck and trailer. It was scary. But one of the guys came out and helped me out thankfully!!

Callie’s is our favorite place to camp in Red River Gorge, and we've been coming back for years. There are tons of tent camping spots, so it rarely feels overcrowded and it’s easy to find a peaceful spot with plenty of room to spread out. The entire campground is extremely clean, from the bathrooms to the grounds, and it's completely safe walking around at all hours. The staff is genuinely friendly, the kind of people who go out of their way to make sure you feel welcome. On top of all that, the pricing is very reasonable.

Been going to Callie's for a few years now. It's honestly one the best campgrounds I've been to. Conveniently located down the street from Nada tunnel and close to most back country by way trails. Facilitates are great. Every weekend there's something getting BBQ'd and the rest of their food is awesome as well. I'll always find some reason to make it out there!

We loved it here! Clean, and friendly service. Great food, and snacks. Bathroom and showers were roomy and clean. My kids loved fishing in the beautiful pond, and playing on the playground! Great place for anyone to stay. Beautiful and close to all the trails! We will be back!

We were highly recommended this place to stay, while checking out the trail system, in the area. Our group was not disappointed!! The store has all kinds of products, in case you forgot something. They also offer amazing food, such as breakfast sandwiches, lunch specials and pulled BBQ. The shower houses were very clean and well kept, with enough hot water for everyone. The campground was roomy, not on top of each site and the primitive camping was very clean. Each site also had a fire pit and a picnic table. If you're in the area and need a good night's rest, stop in and enjoy the quiet comforts of the mountains sounds.

Crazy how this place is 10 min from the main trails, they have a sister location and they only charges us $22 for the night in a van. Crazy how you can even get showers, a lake, playground, and more for that price. Overall in my top 10 so far in the U.S that I’ve been too.
