I got married at Lory State Park and it was magical! The stage was perfect for our vows and we had plenty of room for seating. A rainbow even made an appearance after the ceremony! Wonderful venue and I can’t say enough good things. The park is close enough to FC that guests were able to stay in town and it’s far out enough for beautiful views and photo ops. If you decide to have a wedding or any party here, I do recommend bringing a portable handwashing station (we found ours on Amazon).
Thought it was a beautiful Park. The Atur’s Peak trail was moderate but very doable. There is a steep and rocky spur trail that could be considered strenuous or difficult. This trail will take you to the top but it is short and the views are well worth it.
Such a gem so close to Fort Collins! Loved exploring the well-maintained trails with sweeping foothill views. Perfect for a quick escape into nature—can’t wait to return.
Miles and miles of trails that are friendly to hiking, trail running, mountain biking, equestrians, and picnicking. There's also access to Horsetooth Reservoir from its west side.
Lory State Park is a great because it has many options for outdoor activities from hiking, to mountain biking, and water activities. The hike to Arthur’s Rock is pretty easy if you’re from here. For a visitor, I’d say it’s moderate. The round trip is about 3.8 miles with about 1,000 feet of elevation gain. The trail is well-maintained. The view from the top is worth it. Tip: explore the area to the right of the point where you reach the top. The view is more expansive and no one else was there.
I loved it! Went in November, so this is a kind of late review, but my friend and I had a really good time. If we were better equipped for hiking, we would've gone on a few trails. The views were really pretty, and the park rangers were really really nice, especially since it was our first time ever going to a state park. The museum in the visitor center was small but cool and educational. I really enjoyed our brief time there.
Great moderate hike with spectacular views. Great place to see wildlife and not too many people. The trail is well maintained and well marked. The parking is plentiful. There is a restroom at the trail head. The ascent is moderate but the excellent maintenance of the trail makes it easier. The view at the top makes this hike well worth it! Bring all your friends along to the top makes this hike purely enjoyable!
