This was our first time visiting this campground and we enjoyed it very much. We loved how well kept it is and how clean the bathrooms were. There were many cute dogs and children playing about memorial weekend. We felt safe as there was security making their rounds around the campground. The staff was super friendly from start to finish and the hiking trails beautiful and well kept a site to remember. They have paved, gravel and grass trails. Our site had water and electric hook up no sewer, but there are two dump stations on premise. We live 30 minutes away and will come back again wish there was a discount for Mchenry county residents would definitely make more trips here then.
I cannot say enough positive things about Paul Wolff Campground. Beautiful sites, plenty of room, and paved all around! Trails are well maintained. They had cornhole by the entrance along with a small rock climbing wall (for kids). Horse area is nice. Bathrooms are checked daily. As others have noted the staff is friendly and helpful. Grass mowed every Wednesday along with garbage bins emptied. We will definitely be back.
This is a nice park, but made less pleasant by some overly aggressive attendants. I watched an older gentleman drive around in a golf cart and force an older couple to turn their rig around in their site as it was facing the "wrong direction" and he was also complaining about dogs off-leash next to an RV playing. They really need a dog park where dogs can run and play. Obviously the addition of sewer hookups would be a huge benefit as well.
Nice campground, we'll kept, we stayed at the "back" site 72. Water is available, but bring a 75ft hose. Electric was right there. They could use a few more dump points, bit otherwise its quiet and nice.
We stayed here overnight on our way through. Very impressed park was clean, large paved sites. Nice bathroom but no showers. Affordable great option if exploring this area.
This is a great county campground, not compared to other county campgrounds, I mean a great campground period. Located less than three miles from the Randall Rd exit off I90 they have spacious paved sites, 20/30/50 amp electric service, water hook ups (some are a bit far so bring plenty of hose), surrounded by a forest preserve with plenty of hiking trails, two dump stations, bathroom (men and women) with running water and flush toilets (no showers), two vault toilet houses. The grounds are well maintained with lots of grass, fire pits at each site. Even primitive sites that require a short walk to bring in equipment. Just a sort drive to grocery stores, restaurants, Walmart, just about anything you need. Highly recommend staying here. Online reservations are required prior to arriving to your site. No additional charge for the dumping station if you are a registered camper.
Reserved site 2 weeks in advance. Read online rules. Came into camp after 3pm check in. Nobody in the check in office. Proceeded to my Spot followed by random vehicle from outside the gates. That vehicle was in a rush and speeding to get through only to be sight seeing. Watch your stuff. Not everyone on grounds has a pass. Camping spots are small and compact. Kids running through your spots randomly. Spotas where we stayed were roughly 15-20 yards wide and around 60yards deep. Electric is real close to parking pad. Water is waaaaaaay off in the back of the lot I stayed on. I couldn't even connect and didnt feel like buying a 75 to 100ft drinking hose. Vaulted toilet was so foul I literally gagged. I use to work at a cemetery and spelt corpuses that i pulled out from swampy soil and decay from 8yrs that smelt better than that. It was straight up ammonia and crap. Its as if they didn't pump out the toilet all summer. If this was a private rv park they could been sighted for that. People speed through park and waaaaay too many vehicles at other camp spots. I thought there was a rule only 2 vehicles per camp spot. It was dangerous pulling out to go to the store for last minute things when the main drives were blocked by visitors and campers on top of random kids running in between camp sights and vehicles. VERY DANGEROUS.. I seen NO OVERSIGHT OR ENFORCEMENT of rules.
