2Bears Tavern Uptown
2Bears Tavern Uptown in Chicago offers a cozy, late-night atmosphere ideal for unwinding after work or dancing the night away. The affordable drinks—like $3 lemon drops and bold house margaritas—make it a budget-friendly spot, while a jukebox and retro games (like darts and pinball) add playful energy. The crowd can be lively, though some may find the music loud or the space tight.
Service quality varies, with some bartenders delivering warm, attentive hospitality while others fall short, particularly with policies like no free water (even post-drinks) or abrupt music adjustments. While the welcoming vibe and occasional standout staff shine, inconsistencies in fun and inclusivity may leave some patrons wanting more. Still, its charm and late hours keep it a local favorite.

Customer Reviews
2Bears Tavern Uptown has a rating of 4 out of 5 based on over 105 reviews on Google
The bar overall is lovely. It’s close by my apartment and if you are looking for a late night bar it’s good. Plus they have touch tunes and other patrons play good beats. That being said, my main complaint is service/skill. I’d say most of the bartenders are lovely and equally are on par. But the bartender on Thursday February 12 was terrible. Rude. SPent most of the time chatting. What came down to it was him turning the music down way before closing. More importantly I tried to order a shot and close my tab out. He lied and said he called last call already. Sir no you didn’t. I had been staring at him the entire time trying to get eye contact. He literally tried to gas light me. Then I guess he wasn’t sure I was looking or didn’t care and poured two white patrons something despite telling a poc woman that it was last call. The bar patrons can be either super cliquey (which is true for most gay bars) or don’t understand boundaries
Drinks are pretty inexpensive here. Lemon drops were $3 and house margaritas were $8. The house margaritas are straight tequila thou, they're very strong. There's also games you can play in the bar like smash Bros and Mario kart. And physical games like darts and pinball. Bit of a tight spot but not uncomfortable. Everyone fights over the jukebox so if you don't upgrade your songs to express, you'll never get to hear it played. Open late
This was fine until we were shushed at the bar by a bartender that only sits on his phone. The problem is this place doesn’t understand fun. I wish it were better.
Met up with a friend after work today with $8 cash to burn. Decided to get a Chicago Handshake, and I tipped the server $3 from the $5 bill. I wanted to wash down the taste of Malort in my mouth, so I asked the server for a glass of water. The server stated that serving a glass of water was not allowed and that patrons are to pay for bottled water. Considering I had a fixed amount of cash on me, I was not able to purchase a bottle of water. I also was not aware of this policy for this bar, so the server let me know it's for all the 2bear bars in Chicago. Never once have I ever visited a bar that absolutely refuses to provide a glass of water when requested, especially after having paid for an alcoholic beverage. It appears other reviews also mention this odd policy of not providing free water. The owners seem to be retaliatory to reviews that call out this unfortunate policy. I will stick to bars that provide free water instead.
My partner and I came into this bar on a Sunday for one drink as we were walking through Uptown. We stayed for 4 drinks. The bartender, Chris, was so welcoming and the other patrons were just as great. It's rare to walk into a bar like this and feel like you're at home. We were planning on playing some free games, but the popcorn, conversation, and drinks were flowing and we enjoyed our time too much to think about playing any games! Definitely a new favorite spot!
Can be a bit loud with the music, otherwise great place and most of the bartenders are super cool
I love this bar but apparently they no longer let you play the switch games anymore on the weekends.. bummer because that literally was the only reason I came here.. fabulous drinks though..
