Back2Earth

📍 Gay bars in Portland

6.0

This establishment stands out for its immersive ambiance, blending lush greenery and a polished, welcoming atmosphere that makes it a standout in the local scene. The sound system delivers crisp, high-quality audio with a full-bodied low end, enhancing the overall experience. While the food service is a highlight, the venue occasionally faces inconsistencies in operating hours, which can be a minor inconvenience for late-night visitors.

Regular events and a well-curated social environment make it a solid choice for gatherings, though the lack of an outdoor space and occasional staffing gaps may detract from its potential. The drinks are consistently well-regarded, and the venue’s charm lies in its ability to host engaging, laid-back meetups—ideal for those seeking a relaxed yet dynamic setting.

Incredible food and a gorgeous atmosphere. Dozens and dozens of live plants cover the walls. The service is just as warm as the atmosphere. Food service aside. They have a really clean sound system that's hits pretty hard. A professional Macaulay rig that's dialed. Easily fills the space. Really clean with a full low end.

This place closes at a different time every night and only leaves a hastily written note on the door when they do, I have enjoyed several events here and it’s a nice place for singles mixers and Karaoke but it seems they are not staffed enough to uphold consistent hours despite their google page claiming they are open until 2am Furthermore, this location has no outdoor patio, I remember when this spot used be a gay bar called The Local, I never had a chance to visit it then, but the new owners seem to have abandoned the outdoor space, including the stage designed for drag performances, definitely a shame in a post Covid world Overall this bar is OK; the drinks are good, the atmosphere is neat and the events are fun if you enjoy chill meetups, but the food is expensive and they are not a place that provides a reliable source of community for anyone who gets off work after 10pm, which is understandable but still disappointing

Was here tripping on shrooms and the blue hair tgirl bartender was very kind and cool. Will be back. The place is fairly chill and quiet unless theres an event going on.

Everything was great except for the bartender on Friday night. Didnt catch their name. The bartender was beyond rude, I asked for a drink customized because Im allergic to a specific ingredient. They then proceeded to be super rude, roll their eyes and tell me that what I was asking for was incorrect. I knew it wasnt the drink but it was the most similar thing to what I could have. I let it slide and figured they were having a bad night, but then this happened again for the next 3 drinks that my friend and I ordered. Its already hard as it is to find things you can have when youre allergic to so many things and then to end up leaving that night feeling like I had done something wrong was super upsetting. Everyone else there though was so sweet and kind. Def will be considering whether id go back or not though. 😕

This is a cute little bar that I recently "discovered." Most often not very busy, so come with a friend or two until it picks up. The Tuesday Karaoke is really fun!

Really great gay/queer space. Locally owned with a very laid back and fresh, eco modern vibe. The plant wall is very cool and makes the large, black open space much more friendly and tranquil. Two booths, several Large long tables for larger groups, tall round tables with stools for smaller groups, lots of standing room, and seating around the bar. The area near the front could also be a dance floor but I have never seen it used that way. Large video screens play popular shows and events. Separate smallish pinball, video game room. Nice, clean bathrooms for a bar Large, well stocked bar with friendly bartenders. They pour a reasonably strong cocktail and use premium mixers. Garnishes were fresh. Happy hour starts when they open (7PM to 9PM.) Small food menu but everything is reasonably priced, comes to the table quickly, is generously portioned, and better quality than most bar food. It looks like they have some fun drink specials. Different activities, and themes each night. Adequate parking on the side of the building. I really liked this place.
