Great spot and food. We went here day after Christmas, wasn't sure if they were open...they were and we were pleasantly surprised they were dead...we got fast food, service and enjoyed our burnt end nachos ($19), 12 wings ($18) and Mac and cheese ($8) As always lately was a little pricey but presentation was great and everything was delicious!! 😋 Great hangout spot for games, TV's are everywhere and loved all the NC State and Hurricanes art.
My Husband and I have been residence now for two years and backyard bistro was one of our go to’s. I must say we were reluctant to go back after the change. Tonight we came prepared for the change and was pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere is much more open. Felt very open to new comers and upgrades call for all classes and groups of people. Previously the bar felt very unwelcoming although the staff was all lovely. It felt like it belonged to one team one family and old friends. I’m happy the prices weren’t drastically affected. The price is right the ambiance is pleasant the food is great if not better.! The chicken fingers are sooo juicy and tender and filling! The hush puppy seem to be the same but lighter not as heavy so delish! The famous brisket Mac is still great and presentation in the large round deep dish is perfect and here to stay. I’m sad there isn’t any sweet potato fries but I was pleased 😀
Great great great location to go before or after games for drinks and food! We were able to beat traffic and high uber prices by just walking in after Canes game, and grab food and drinks!
The esthetic is amazing. The sports bar is across the way from a major arena making it a go establishment before shows. The wall of TVs and art were great. The menu offerings were good. Not the best for picky eaters. The chicken 10/10. The crab dip 10/10. Was not a fan of the shoestring fries. The nachos were ok. Very big portions of everything! The smash burger looked good. The drinks were drinking! Molly was good and attentive! Would definitely visit again.
We were in town for a concert and decided to order food from The Local while getting ready at the Four Points Sheraton (which is right behind it). We ordered a chicken sandwich and two orders of nachos—one with chicken and one with brisket (if you can even call it that). The nachos came covered in what was described as "queso," but it looked and tasted more like gravy—with bacon or ham bits mixed in. Definitely not queso. I called to ask if we could get some shredded cheese instead, and the woman who answered had quite an attitude about it. She eventually said they would remake them with shredded cheese, which I appreciated. We got there about 15 minutes later and still waited another 30 minutes for the food. The male bartender was friendly and helpful, but the woman bartender was incredibly rude—she kept giving us death glares from across the bar the entire time we waited. It made for a really uncomfortable experience. The food itself was disappointing, and the service from the female staff member sealed the deal. Definitely wouldn’t recommend or return.
Went to The Local and truly enjoyed the food, atmosphere and service. Definitely a hidden sports bar unless you’re a hurricanes fan (you have been keeping this all to yourself)! Recently remodel , flat screens and comfy seating. Order a side of Mac & Cheese (very creamy, seasoned to perfection and pasta cooked perfectly), ordered the buffalo and garlic Parmesan wings (they are brined for 24 hours), you have the option to either grill or fry them. Shoe-string fries , fried perfectly. The service was great, shout out to Hailey, going above and beyond & answering all my questions!
Had lunch here today. Hardly busy, had to flag the server down for Soda refills. Didn't come around much in general. Wish more of the Hurricanes stuff stayed up! Bring back sweet potatoe fries please!
