American Outlaws Bar
American Outlaws Bar stands out as a lively spot in Des Moines, offering a unique experience with its three-level layout, each featuring different music, allowing patrons to enjoy a variety of atmospheres under one roof. The bar is praised for its cleanliness and friendly staff, contributing to a generally enjoyable night out. However, some visitors have reported inconsistent enforcement of dress codes and occasional service issues.
While the bar can get crowded and the music loud, the overall experience is often positive for those who fit the dress code. Bar for the best bar downtown. And might I add the cleanest. Finally a bar that I can actually go to the bathroom at without stepping through puke and.. ya know. Haha. Great music and great staff. They're always so much fun! 3 different levels to party on with different music on each almost makes it seem like you can hit multiple bars without even leaving! Love this bar for sure.
I was minding my business in my own little corner, and a girl started dancing on me, and after that I noticed a bar tender whispering to another bar tender. It kind of felt like he didn’t like that this girl was coming onto me because they had something going on. was maybe talking to the girl or something and he didn’t like the fact that she was dancing on me. And basically towards the end of the night someone told me I needed to leave: lol. Had a good time though
Don’t bother coming here if you want to wear your favorite college teams beanie. You will get bounced. Or a white shirt. Or sweatpants…
Was here early on a Friday and we were the only ones here. No biggie. It was early. We had our own bartender so made it better. Used to be komodo. Im sure it gets super busy later in the evening.
Last night I had the most unpleasant experience here. After my ID was checked this security guard wouldn’t let me in, when I asked what the reason was he stood there not giving one. He told me he was calling the cops to have me removed & I said okay that’s fine. As I stood there holding onto the railing he began lifting up my fingers and putting his hands on me instead of waiting for the cops. This bar & their employees are a disappointment. Do not waste your money here especially if you’re of color they will treat you like nothing.
The service is terrible and rasict. My boyfriend had a turbin on, he wears it for religious reasons. The sign says no DURAGS. What strikes me is that there were at least 30 guys wearing baseball caps. I wanted to talk to the owner but the guy completely disregarded me. I know they are doing their jobs but they were disrespectful and cannot refuse someone because of their religious beliefs. I would love to spend my money here but I didn’t even have the chance. I was at the bar for 5 minutes and the server skipped over me. I had to ask her for a drink menu when she said we don’t have one and left. 3 minutes later she got my drink then verbally made a scene about me not tipping her for my 6$ drink that took 15 minutes. I’m never going back. I hope they change their rules or at least workers….
If you’re looking for a bar with rude service, deafening loud music, chaotic atmosphere, disjointed and random rules of which are poorly enforced, a dress code that makes no sense, and thee worst bouncers on Court Ave. then THIS is place to be at. Oh and the best part… you get this fun-filled experience by paying their $5 cover. Rude and terrible place. Do not recommend.
