I never leave reviews but I’ve never had a negative interaction with a bartender like this before. My friends and I were taking our time to catch up before ordering drinks and we were approached by the female bartender with a crazy attitude from the jump for not ordering drinks sooner. We would’ve completely understood a friendly reminder to purchase something in order to stay around, but we were met with a very aggressive and unwelcome tone even after communicating that we recieved her message. She argued that we were taking up space when the bar was half empty (we weren’t even taking up a table) and it just didn’t feel right to be iced out of the bar when we were some of the very few black people in the space. We found this extremely insensitive, unprofessional and prejudiced on behalf of your staff.

Disappointed to write a negative review about this bar - a place I’ve recommended to friends. Long story short a bartender aggressively approached my friends I over a bar policy that she A) did not explain and B) presumed we were violating. Instead of talking to us rationally she addressed the only black women in the bar with an accusatory tone. She’d already been watching us and asserted that we were in her words "taking up space" - this place is like 100 sq ft. We could barely sit because it was packed and were deciding what to do next … a typical experience. I live in the neighborhood, I go out all the time and frankly have never been approached like this! A fun and intimate bar, always a good time for delicious Guiness, cocktails, or a PAIN KILLER!!! Excellent music choices and vibes.

Overall rating: 4.8 Such a great, chill spot that’s perfectly nestled in Bedstuy. I come here for the amazing happy hour and a bar crawl on a weekend date. If I lived in the area, I’d definitely become a regular here. Also love the names of the drinks. Very non-pretentious, yet not divey. Totally recommend if you live in the area or looking to try a new place.

I absolutely adore this bar. It’s a great spot to enjoy a cocktail outside in their front ‘deck’, or get cozy in the booth corner with wine. The decor and chilled out vibes are great, making it a cute laid back date spot.

Great addition to the neighborhood and worth a trip to Bed-Stuy to check out. Barb’s is a casual, unassuming bar with a comfortable interior, good cocktails, and quality beer selection. I was surprised to see they are serving imperial pint Guinness - the bar tender even poured it properly from the draft! Very welcoming environment and a neighborhood crowd. Good speakers and music vibes. Highly recommend.

Cozy neighborhood bar in Bed-Stuy with great drinks and an easy vibe. Good mix of cocktails, beer, and snacks, plus a great stereo and killer playlists that always set the mood. Staff are welcoming and the crowd’s friendly without being over the top.
