Alibi Lounge
Alibi Lounge, a long-standing gay bar in New York, was once celebrated for its welcoming atmosphere and community-focused vibe, blending chic decor with a lively energy. Known for its support of local Black-owned businesses, it attracted crowds seeking an inclusive, fun setting with excellent service and engaging entertainment.
However, recent shifts in ownership have raised concerns over pricing transparency and inconsistent service quality, with some patrons reporting underwhelming experiences. While the space retains its charm and late-night appeal, potential visitors are advised to verify current operations and expectations before heading in.

I truly miss this place. I still can't that the people that were supposed to be honest and give and destroy the legacy of this iconic place. They should be a shame of themselves. We should name them Allen Hassel, Elaine Perry, Jeannette Lawson, Carmen T Hurt!
I would never come here again. I’m not sure who the new owners are but they are overcharging. We ordered 3 frozen drinks with barely any alcohol in it and one shot of patron and the cost came to $94! I don’t mind spending money on drinks but the bartender included a $14 tip and they charged us over $20 for using a credit card. The service was subpar. When I pay this type of money I expect to have excellent service. The bartender was lazy, spent most of the time on her phone and never checked in with us or anyone for that matter. We had to ask for water a few times and I saw the same frustration in a few other customers and a man who was also behind the counter with her appeared to be somewhat frustrated with her as well. I hate when small businesses like this come in and try to exploit the community. I will never come here again.
We spent $100 for three drinks… which is fine BUT, if you are going to give your self a 14% gratuity need to ask everyone "you okay?!" "Can I bring you anything else?!" Consistently. We had to ask 4 times for cups water because our bartender was in the corner on her phone on FaceTime with her leg up. There is no register, they use their phone to calculate prices. Other People were getting extremely frustrated and someone had to step in and help her because she said she was so claimed busy however, nobody is really at the bar. This was NOT one of my favorites and I live in Harlem and I always support local businesses. However I would not recommend. Money hungry and lazy.
Visited Alibi after a group we met at another bar recommended it. From the moment we walked in we were transported to a fun, chic, and good time. 10/10 would come again!
This place no longer is operating. I walked there and the new owners shared it was no longer Alibi. this should be removed.
We ran over cause we thought it closed at 10 pm. False. They don't close till 4 am! What a wonderful environment. We heard about Alibi lounge from people at Stonewall Inn as a black gay owned business and wanted to support. Let's put some love on top! Alexi was our magical bartender. We found our neighborhood bar/hangout! How fun!
I came here with a bunch of friends and we had a great time. The drinks were great. The bartenders were so friendly and nice. The music was on point too. I love the atmosphere with the mirrors and the stripper pole! Would love to visit again soon.
