Grand Avenue Bar & Grill

This is a dive bar. That's not a criticism. I love a good dive bar. While it is a dive bar, it's not a nasty dive bar. It's kinda small but it has outdoor seating. The servers are great (HI Amy). There are sports on the TVs, so it's sports bar-ish. There are a lot of locals which means it's not a tourist spot, which also means that you should come here if you're a tourist. The beer is not expensive. Six dollar Modelos? Yes, please. The food is great. It will surpass your expectations. Also, you get a lot for your money. I got a plate of cajun chicken on linguine and I couldn't finish it. I took it home. I went back and got half an order of nachos, and it too was a huge serving. I'm visiting Carlsbad and I've only checked out the G spot, so I have to check out at least a couple of other bars. But I'll probably end up back at the G spot.

I ordered a Blue Moon Beer and they did not have the beer; nor an option close to the beer. Then I ordered the calamari, they were out of it. Settled for the fish and chips. The fish was over fried and greasy. The fries were greasy as well. My friend ordered the wings...they were ok. Nothing to rave about. The service was phenomenal. The staff was friendly and quick to service.

Great local bar. Good drinks, friendly staff, good comfort food and appetizers. A hidden gem! Can never go wrong here.

Over a $10 coupon the waitress became very aggressive -listening over talking and unbearable to deal with because the coupon I couldn't find. Then after being dismissive she was insulting and then threatened to call the police because I didn't like her insults worst experience ever

Wing report! I like my wings naked, on the small side and a hair above Buffalo-spicy. If they offer flats-only, that’s a big plus. I appreciate being asked about ranch/blue cheese. I enjoy my wings best in a friendly sports bar with as many TVs as they can fit. I usually grab a spot at the bar. With that being said, I rate this establishment as following (out of 10): Wings: 9 Freshness: 8 Service: 10 Atmosphere: 4

Food was good and the staff was lovely

When someone recommends a bar for fresh caught seafood pasta and homemade posole you can't help but react with genuine skepticism. Fortunately now I can be the one to see the faces of skeptical people because this food was good! Other positives: The food and drinks were very reasonably priced, the service was fast and attentive, and best of all, no wait or reservation needed on a Friday night during a holiday weekend. You better believe everywhere else was packed and double the price.
