City Fitness - East Passyunk

I’ve been a member here at the Passyunk location for only a few weeks and I’ve already been experiencing issues. The space and staff are fine. It is clean and organized. Although there are some ongoing issues that are frustrating. Several machines have been out of order for weeks at a time, which makes it hard to follow a consistent workout routine. The front register also frequently doesn’t work. I have tried to purchase drinks/shakes three times and it hasn’t worked every time. This means I can’t even purchase something simple like a drink before my workout. Additionally, the membership structure is just disappointing. The "Neighborhood" membership does not include access to all locations, and it forces you to upgrade costs significantly more. This isn’t made very clear upfront. For the cost of the gym, I don’t understand how management can’t addresses equipment maintenance as soon as it breaks down. Seems like they’d much rather slap a sign on it and keep it broken for days. Considering the size and limited equipment, there’s no reason for the only leg press machine in the WHOLE GYM to be broken or the only water fountain downstairs to be unavailable. It has the potential to be a great gym, but these issues make it hard to justify the cost.

The gym is very clean and well organized. The only small issue is that there is only one tricep rope available. It can be stressful having to wait until it’s free. It would be very helpful if they added a few more. PLEASEEE!

City fitness on Passyunk ave has the best staff I ever met . They treat everyone with respect and kindness. Thank you for letting me join the gym . Well appreciated

Interesting because they call me MULTIPLE times a day asking me to join their gym but they cant shovel their sidewalks in a massive snow storm. They have left their sidewalks completely icy for 2 days now. Its wild how such a money hungry business cant take care of the wellbeing of their guests or neighbors.

The worst decision I've ever made. Do not get a membership here unless you want to be charged hundreds of dollars for weeks and weeks with no end by useless money hungry scammers. Me and my family were charged $200 in the two weeks I went there when staff promised my it would only be $40 (which they assured me they've waive). When I asked for my credit card information to be removed, they said that they couldn't and that there was nothing they could do to help me. This pretty much meant they could continue charging me card endlessly without a refund. Staff are kind but become extremely uncooperative, unhelpful, clueless and rude when I tried to cancel. I wish I'd never gone to this gym.

Went in for a tour yesterday. Location is bright and clean. Staff was super friendly and informative. All the equipment looked new. Very eager to try one of their smoothies

I've been a member of City Fitness for a while and I'm excited when this location is opened. It's only 5 minutes bike ride away from where I live and it's conveniently located around shops, restaurants and couple blocks away from ACME. This gym is not perfect. Even though this place is bigger than the older location on Reed st. This place still small and don't have enough equipment. One peck deck machine and no calf raise machine. Coming around busy time could be challenging. The membership is not cheap. But with top quality customer service, front desk who ALWAYS greets you when you come and when you leave, clean equipment, even when there is broken equipment, they fixed it in timely manner, sauna, clean shower, towels, amenities, access to all City Fitness location in the city, classes.. You really get what you pay for.. seriously.. Can't even compare with Planet Fitness Black Card membership. Will I recommend City Fitness? Yes absolutely ... But please don't come to this place.. go to other bigger location 🙂
