Love the new space for Porter Square Books! It’s bright and engaging with so many titles to choose from, great staff picks and lots of fun tzotchkes. The Page & Leaf cafe is an awesome addition here with delicious drinks and lots of seating for reading and working. Bathrooms super clean too.
I hope I’m putting this in the correct place. As an avid writer and reader I will admit that I was disheartened to see that Porter Square Books wasn’t in its dependable location, but it was a pleasant surprise to see the new store, which seems so much spacious than the space before. The new owner took over the space and now sells everything from authentic one of a kind of clothing to items that you would find while traveling or on a treasure hunt. I felt her passion for this new business that will fit in perfectly in Cambridge. I am looking forward to going back and searching through everything. It’s set up in such an organized way but makes you feel like you’re going through an upscale but affordable flea market without the pier table owners. The new owner was such a pleasant woman, and although I was only there for about a half hour at the most she had to explain to more than a handful of people about the transition. She did this gracefully. I am sure she would drain by the end of the day with the repetitiveness. I Suggested that she get a shirt that says no more Porter square books and she took this corny joke in good humor. I will be More than happy to spend my money here for the amazing items and for the down to earth owner who seemed like she would really appreciate the flow she’s gonna be getting in.
This was my first time visiting Porter Square Books and the hype is worth it. I loved the cafe partnership. The staff picks were diverse across genres. The staff was offering recommendations for Indie Bookstore Day partnered with a discount if you chose the book. It's a pretty big store I was pleasantly surprised
I ordered a wall calendar from Porter Square Books that I couldn't find anywhere else, including Amazon and the publishers own site. They packaged the calendar with extreme care and sent it out the next day. It arrived in perfect condition ahead of schedule. I am so pleased with Porter Square Books, and I'll be sure to visit in person the next time I'm in Cambridge!
Lovely bookstore, good selection, the staff is very helpful and friendly. They also have a little coffee shop inside, Love the smell of coffee. They have a cute kids corner.
This place is one of my favorite bookstores (and I've been to a plethora). They have very knowledgeable and friendly staff, and they highlight local authors. The events hosted are wonderful as well, not too overwhelming or crowded. The staff picks, which are frequently amazing, are 20% off and change monthly. They have a pretty good cafe, too, that sell locally baked goods. Plus, there's a YA book club (for young adults and those young at heart) every month.
I love coffee shops in bookshops. Independently run coffee shops in independently run bookshops are the stuff of fantasy in a world where chain stores rule. So obviously Porter Square Books and Zing Cafe get points for merely existing, the latter inside the former. My obvious fanaticism aside, this is a great place to browse new books; from poetry to politics, sip on a latte or type away furiously at your latest writing project.
