Great place to sell and buy games for collection purposes. Always fair with prices. They test everything before they put it out for sale, so you're always guaranteed a working game. They're very knowledgeable on video games and systems. I personally wouldnt go anywhere else but here or their second location. Highly recommend, top notch vendors.

Had a great experience selling old consoles and games for cash here! Fast, fair and no hassle! The store is stacked to the brim with games and gear. I definitely recommend it to parents who want to introduce their kids to gaming on a budget.

I recently went to Retro Dimension for the first time to sell some of my old games and consoles. The selling process was easy and quick--I dropped them off and came back to an offer 45 minutes later. I felt that the offer I received was incredibly fair and I couldn't have been happier with the service I received during the transaction. Beyond the selling experience, what a cool store! They've truly got stuff from across the history of gaming. The store is tidy and clean. You could spend an entire afternoon browsing here. When I'm in the market to buy--or the next time I need to sell--I'll be back!

Not from this area but decided while I had some down time to stop in. They have a decent collection of video games and merch from all eras. I was slightly disappointed they didnt have more current gen games. They had some pretty rare stuff in there too in its own dedicated display case. The employee working there was super down to earth and was willing to help and chat with me bout all things gaming. Im giving this rating because the pics are slightly deceiving from the actual size of the store and a small selection of current gen games. Other than that it was a really cool place and I hope that if I get to return, I get to meet the owner.

I came here to sell my large collection of games and consoles, some of the stuff I had for 30+ years. I was a little apprehensive walking on, assuming I would be lowballed on everything. I dropped off my collection to be appraised with Pedro, and came back later in the evening. I received what I would call a fair offer for everything. Of course I could have sold it all piece meal for more, but I simply was in a bind and didn’t have the time. The store itself is great. You can tell that the owner takes pride in displaying the stores collection, and clearly has a passion for the hobby. Many if the items in my collection were complete in box with manuals, one of which was Wario Mega Microgames on the GameBoy Advance. For this I had the box, but the game was missing. Pedro made me an offer on good faith, trusting that I would come back with the game which I did. Thanks Pedro for helping me out of a jam, I plan on stopping by soon to see if you still have anything from my collection that I might be able to buy back! -James

Highly organized and best place to shop for games in the Chicagoland area. Staff is friendly as well as knowledgeable. Hopefully stores like this remain open forever, great selection of retro games and fair trade in value for cash or store credit based on current market values.

I had an absolutely terrible experience with Retro Dimension. On Friday, I spent $150 on a handful of vintage games, trusting that a store specializing in retro titles would price things fairly. Unfortunately, the games turned out to be a huge disappointment and not at all what I expected. When I returned the following Monday, I wasn’t even asking for a cash refund—I was perfectly willing to accept store credit and simply exchange the games for another game of equal value. The games were in the exact same condition as when I purchased them, untouched and returned just a couple of days later. That’s when things became completely unreasonable. I was told that the same games I had just paid $150 for were now only "worth" $25 in store credit. Think about that for a second: the same store that charged me $150 on Friday suddenly claimed those exact same games were valued at only $25 just a few days later. That’s barely one-sixth of what I paid. It honestly feels like a complete ripoff. How can a store sell items at one price and then immediately turn around and say they’re only worth a tiny fraction of that when a customer tries to return them—even for store credit? The entire experience left me extremely dissatisfied and feeling taken advantage of. To make matters worse, the employee working at the time—who was wearing a Milwaukee Brewers hat—had a serious attitude problem and came across as extremely hostile during the interaction. If you’re considering buying vintage games here, be very careful about what you’re paying. Based on my experience, if you try to return something—even in the exact same condition just days later—you may suddenly be told it’s worth almost nothing. I won’t be coming back, and I would strongly advise others to think twice before giving any business to a place that treats customers this way.
