Chico Magic

This store is my favorite place in town to get Magic the Gathering products. The owner, Jesse, is extremely nice and welcomes you into their store as if it were their own home. Everything is easy to find and Jesse is more than happy to help you find what you want (which they generally have every time) and even more happy to give good suggestions. On top of all of that, the prices offered are very good and reasonable. Every time I go there's a good amount of people hanging out playing MTG and it creates an atmosphere of community. Not to mention the people there are happy to talk about the game and are usually ready to shuffle up and play. If you're a beginner trying to get into the game, I would highly recommend going here any day they're open. All in all, a fantastic place to go if you want to buy some cards and play with people in the community. Oh also its very very LGBT+ friendly, all are welcome at Chico Magic!

Great place to find what you need to build your decks and spend some time at Commander, Yu Gi Oh, Dungeons and Dragons nights and other special events! Hidden inside the Phoenix building next to Mas Amor, just in case you get hungry. Lol

These folks are just the best. The owner spent 20-30 minutes helping me pick out a thank you gift for a co-worker a few months ago. Yesterday I brought my daughter and her friend in because I thought they would enjoy it and they loved it. He made them feel super welcome and even had little gifts for them. This place is a treasure for the community.

Very accommodating for my TTRPG group! No other store in Chico would/could host us and they've made us feel welcome every time we play. The other people who hang out in the store have been super friendly, too. A few of them even joined our D&D table! The store has the best pricing for dice I've seen around Chico. I think the "basic" dice there are about 5$. Other locations that sell dice are usually 10$ minimum. They also have solid selection of D&D books, most of which are the gorgeous special edition covers.

While this establishment was welcoming with its community before the new owner, Jessie has taken it to a whole new level. He will personally help you find a play group if you are to shy to walk up to people and ask. He is more than willing to bend over backwards to make you feel comfortable as if this is his own home. There are so many kind people and you are bound to make at least one new friend after spending a day there. I would be lying if i said i don’t consider this a second home date i say a person safe space where i go to relax/brighten my day. It is one of the few reason i question if moving away is worth it because i doubt i will find a space like this again.

I've been playing trading card games for almost two decades now and have never found an environment like this to play in. The new owner is one of the single most kind hearted and generous human beings I've ever met. Jesse (the owner) is the kind of guy who I have seen on multiple occasions pull a card out of his own deck and just give it to a player in need. He has dedicated himself to cultivating a wonderful, inclusive, and positive environment where everyone can feel welcome. I have spent countless hours at this store, my wife has joined us and enjoyed games, and I'll continue to be a customer for life. Why the one star review then you may ask? They have a picture of breakfast on the walls and it makes me hungry. 1/5, would never go to store again.

This is my local Disneyland, happiest place in Chico! Great people, fun events, family friendly, excellent Magic judges. Highly recommend.
